Diabetes is a serious, chronic condition, one that affects over 150 million people in the world today. There are three different types of diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and gestational. There are similarities and differences among the three types of diabetes, one in particular - that as of yet there is no cure.

Diabetes occurs when your body is either not producing enough or any insulin, which is a hormone that is necessary in the body in order to turn sugar into energy. If there is not enough insulin in the body this sugar cannot be converted into energy and remains in the bloodstream, resulting in a higher than normal blood sugar level.

The mission of the association is to prevent and cure diabetes and also to help the lives of those suffering from the condition as well as their friends and families.
They are constantly working and striving to find a diabetes cure in every way that they can, and this includes how they support basic and clinical diabetes research aimed at preventing, treating, and curing diabetes.
