What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is one those diseases where conventional medicine have no idea what to do but to suppress symptoms. Just like many other chronic diseases out there. Fact is, practitioner of natural medicine recognized CFS to be a valid disease many years prior to practitioners of conventional medicine. And natural treatments have far higher success rate at treating these conditions. Is it surprising?
People who suffers from CFS often experiences severe debilitating fatigue and muscle pain. There are as many as 3 million Americans suffering from this disease. Many don't even know they have CFS. This is because its symptoms are very common like headaches, sore throat, concentration problems and fatigue that lasts more than 24 hours and even after rests.
The problem with diagnosing CFS is the difficulty in detecting it. If you tell you doctor that you suspect you have CFS, he'll probably just sent you away with "drink more water, eat more veges, less stress and more sleep" advice. If he doesn't, he'll prescribe drugs to suppress the symptoms you are showing.
There's no cure for CFS, you'll be told. That's an outright lie. Believe me, because I have recovered from it. I build this lens to help people with problems like I did. There's so much about CFS, whole books have been written about it. I'm not going into all those things. Just "what is it", "what causes it so you can avoid them" and "what is the cure so you can start getting rid of it".

1. Mercury poisonings, often caused by amalgam fillings in the teeth.
2. Lyme Disease. Lyme can cause symptoms very similar to CFS, including chronic fatigue. In fact, they are often mistaken for each other. If you tried a very comprehensive treatment for CFS but had no luck, consider treating for Lyme.
3. Use of pharmaceutical drug, according to Physicians' Desk reference can cause CFS. These include but not limited to: accutane, marplan tablets, prozac, zoloft, tenormin and centrax.
4. Stress, depression and other unresolved issues can indirectly cause CFS. Such psychological issues suppress your immune system and allows the bacteria to flourish.
5. Under active thyroid gland can cause
How Do I Know If I'm Suffering Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Or Not?
As I have said above, the symptoms are really broad and common. To make things more confusing, symptoms come and go, with the person feeling healthy for short period of time. According to CDC, for a person to be diagnosed with CFS, he/she must be suffering from unexplained and persistent fatigue not due to physical activity PLUS four or more of these symptoms:1. concentration/memory problems.
2. fatigue that lasts more than 24 hours.
3. headache
4.muscle pain
5. multiple joint pain
6. swollen or tender lymph nodes in the neck/armpits
7. sore throat
As you can see, it's a pretty difficult-to-detect disease. Here are some test you can do make sure.
1. A technique developed by Burke A. Cunha M.D can help determine if patients is suffering from CFS as opposed to other conditions with similar symptoms, by checking if there is a arch-shaped, bright red marks in the back of the mouth, shaped in the form of "crimson crescents". However, it is not a 100% guarantee. These crescents has been found to appear in 5% of non-CFS patients, though low, it is still a possibility what you are suffering from is not CFS.
2. Or you can try an immunological test developed by Jay Levy M.D. This test is also NOT definitive, but it can determine patients most likely to have it so they can go on and have additional tests done on them.
3. The last 2 tests are used mostly by holistic practitioner and almost never used by conventional doctors. They are called darkfield microscopy and electrodermal screening. Basically what darkfield microscopy does is detect harmful bacterias in your bacterias which most CFS patients have. While electrodermal screening measures electrical output of meridian points and these output are then analyzed to provide information of the health status of the body and the presence of CFS.
So there, those are the ways you can try to find out if you have CFS or not.
So What Are The Cures For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
First and foremost the treatment of CFS is a continuous and ongoing process, despite anything conventional doctors say to you. Therefore changing your lifestyle is the most important thing you should do. The usual "drink 8 cups water, more veges, more fruits" still.Eat only organic. The toxins in your normal maybe what is responsible for your CFS Consume food that are rich in essential fatty acids, like salmon, healthy oils such krill oil, extra virgin olive oil and especially coconut oil, which is also best for stabilizing thyroid gland.
Make sure you drink only filtered water.
Perform detoxification to get rid of built-up toxins. Detoxifications should be performed with the help of health practitioners. See your holistic doctor for this.
Same goes for herbs. See a qualified herbalist.
As for your part, you can consume NATURAL supplements like beta carotene, B complex vitamins plus vitamin B12 and pantothenic acid, vitamin C, coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), magnesium, potassium, zinc, germanium and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH).
Some cases of CFS are really so bad, you can't just consume supplements to get rid of it. Growing up in a Chinese society and family, I went for acupuncture, where they poked needles on your meridian to encourage energy flow. I always felt much better after a session. Give it a try.
