Skin Boils

A boil, also knows as a furuncle, is a deep seated abscess that involves an entire hair follicle and the surrounding skin tissue.

A boil typically starts as a red, tender area on the skin. With time, the area becomes round, hard, and starts to raise from the skin. The center of the boil becomes soft ans is filled with white blood cells which make a "pus". Eventually, the pus begins to surface and then can be lanced and drained.

What Is A Boil?

Boil Wiki

Boil (or furuncle) is a skin disease caused by the infection of hair follicles, resulting in the localized accumulation of pus and dead tissue. Individual boils can cluster together and form an interconnected network of boils called carbuncles.

What Causes A Boil?

There are many causes of boils, but the most common is caused by an ingrown hair. Boils can also develop as a result of foreign materials that block the skin. Other common causes are those related to acne where a sweat gland becomes blocked and then infected. Since the lesion can spread, several boils can be found in one location.

Boils that are recurrent may indicate that a person is especially susceptible to a particular form of bacteria, has poor hygiene, is exposed to chemicals, or a weakened immune system. Boils are most common, but not exclusive to young men.

Medical Treatment Of Boils

The typical medical treatment of boils involves a lancing and draining of the pus along with a powerful antibiotic protocol. It is very important to keep the area clean after draining to prevent the infection from getting worse.

Great lens! I hope I never get a boil though. The video of the boil getting lanced really did not look too nice. Must have hurt because the person was twitching. Great suggestions on how to avoid and treat boils naturally.

I've seen some try to treat boils by trying to burn them off, but this was a long time ago and I had always wondered what the best way to remove one.

Looking at the video I guess lancing a boil is better but is look just as bad.
