What Causes TMJ?

TMJ is a disorder that affects the joints on the jaws and cause pain, clicking or popping sounds on the jaw, ringing in the ears, headaches, difficulty in eating, locking of the jaw and dizziness. This order may be caused by trauma for example when someone punches you right at the jaw area, of when you had an accident. This can be cause by the grinding and clenching of the jaws particularly when sleeping. Another cause can be when the teeth, upper and lower, does not work in harmony.

Common Symptoms Of TMJ

The most common complains from people with TMJ are the pain, the clicking, popping sounds and the swelling that affects even part of the mouth nearest to the jaw. This disorder is quite scary because it can progress to even locking of the jaws when partially or fully opened. It gets scarier when this locking and the pain occurs often already. Don't let it progress until such time that it causes you so much discomfort and pain.

Cures For TMJ

When it comes to cures for TMJ, there are a lot of site in the internet that says it can be cured. But in fact the cures they are referring to are actually symptomatic treatments. Symptomatic treatment is not actually treating the main cause of a disease or disorder because there is no cure, but rather only the symptoms, the signs or the indications of the disease or disorder.

For clenching and grinding of teeth mouth guards and splints are their for use. And in extreme cases teeth implants or surgical procedure done on the joints are done.
