Curious About George?
Why I Love Curious George
If you're like me, you fell in love with the inquisitive little fellow at an early age. There was something about him and his adventures, one after the other, that captured your heart. It's not hard to think back to our childhood and remember how easily it was to get into trouble. With unpredictable George, the only thing predictable about him was that as soon as the man with the yellow hat leaves the house, George would be into some kind of mischief!
As Margret Rey observed, "George can do what kids can't do. He can paint a room from the inside. He can hang from a kite in the sky. He can let the animals out of their pens on the farm. He can do all these naughty things that kids would like to do." So true, and we love him for it!

Curious George the Movie
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie, and if you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for?The adventures of Curious George, the inquisitive little guy with an insatiable taste for adventure. George's spunky and fun-loving nature endears him to new friends, but also lands him in a series of (mis-)adventures.
Will Ferrell stars as The Man in the Yellow Hat, a gentleman who looks after his pet monkey - an inquisitive and wonderful creature whose enthusiasm often gets the best of him.
Released on February 10, 2006, this 1 hour and 30 minute movie will be sure to give you quality entertainment. The movie has grossed $58,336,565 at the U.S. Box Office.

H.A. and Margret Rey
About the Creators
Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Elisabeth Waldstein (later Margret Rey), were both born in Hamburg, Germany. The two met briefly before Margret left Hamburg to study art, but they were reunited in Rio de Janeiro, where Hans was selling bathtubs for the family business. Margret convinced Hans to leave the business, and the two were married in Brazil on August 16, 1935.After honeymooning in Paris, the two fell in love with the city and lived their until they were forced to flee from the Nazis, being German Jews, on the morning of June 14, 1940. They left the city on homemade bicycles with few rations - a bit of food, warm clothes, and a few manuscripts, one being Curious George. The Nazis arrived in the city just a few hours later, but the Reys made their way to Lisbon, then Brazil, and eventually New York City, where they began a whole new life as children's book authors.
Curious George was first published by Houghton Mifflin in 1941 and has become so popular, that in 60 years, it has never gone out of print. The original seven stories created by the Reys have sold over 25 million copies, making George one of the most beloved and recognizable characters in children's literature. His adventures have been translated into many languages, including Japanese, French, Afrikaans, Portuguese, Swedish, German, Chinese, Danish, and Norwegian.
Although both of the Reys have passed away - Hans in 1977 and Margret in 1996-George lives on in the Curious George Foundation. Established in 1989, this foundation funds programs for children that share Curious George's irresistible qualities-ingenuity, opportunity, determination, and curiosity in learning and exploring.

- I got my wife a Curios George necklace a long time ago from the Curios George book store in Harvard Square. She loved it and it broke a while back. I have tried finding another one pretty much every time Valentines Day rolls around. But I can't find it anywhere. I would love any suggestions? I tried the store and Ebay and just searching online.
