- Smoking problem is great opportunity to review relations in our society. Who really makes decision? People? Politicians? Capitalists? If everybody knows smoking is bad, why it is not banned everywhere?
And maybe another question... Who really wants to make decision about him, his health and his environment? Can this society produce people capable of making their decision?

- My previous post is not a rant from someone that never smoked(I've heard ex-smokers are the worse); I was introduced to cigarette smoking byan older sister that had me smoke when I was 8 or 9 supposedly so "you can't tell mom I'm smoking cuz' you were smoking too." Didn't work for her she still got spanked.
Then in junior high (13 years old) an older neighbor kid got me smoking, "because it's so cool." I moved at the end of 7th grade to a new community, a home out in the country. All the neighbor boys thought smoking was cool too. We all smoked clear thru school with most of us just smoking more and more. I smoked until I was 37 years old; I was smoking 4 packs a day, had been for quite awhile. I coughed myself to sleep at night, had to do Vick's cough drop to ease the tickle so I could get to sleep. I would hack myself awake in the middle of the night, I would hack away in between cigarettes. Smoker's cough had me big time.
I prayed and prayed and prayed some more. I prayed for the willpower to cut down.
After about two months of steady praying GOD gave me that willpower to cut down.
I woke up one morning with the willpower to not light up on the way to the bathroom, went and made breakfast, still no need to light up yet. Well I went and took a nice relaxing bath, still no need to light up. All this was going on while I was trying to run my late dad's trucking company, my mom was to distraught to even come to the office. Little did I know at the time but one of the secretarys in the office was doing everything she could do to run the company into the ground so she could pick up the trucks for nothing. So there was plenty of stress, not exactly an ideal time to cut down on smoking.
I went to the office and was telling the 'good' secretary about my possibly getting the willpower to cut down but out of my mouth came, "And GOD has made me a non-smoker." (Where the heck did that come from?)
Anyway I figured I would light up soon but I just kept on having the willpower to not light up another one. The first few weeks I kept saying, "If I would have known I was going to wake up a nonsmoker I would have 'enjoyed that last cigarette." (I think that made the first month so much worse than it needed to be, besides don't let anyone tell you they enjoyed the last cigarette they smoked. If that was so they would probably be back smoking.)
<'(((>< Somedays I wonder if all the hype about how difficult it is to quit smoking is actually propaganda put out there by the cigarette companies.
I still claim though that I was delivered from my 4 pack a day habit from GOD Himself.

- Great idea for a lens.
I think if cigarettes are so bad the government needs to make them illegal, taxing something that is noxious and harmful merely makes you on an equal footing as a drug dealer(with the law on your side.) If the government want to really make change, make the cigarettes go away. In the USA they have had lawsuits against the tobacco companies for knowing these things are killers yet suppressing the truth. Even after all the settlements from those cigarette companies the government still condones the use. They should make the government responsible for all the costs to take care of anyone with smoking related illnesses, afterall they benefitted from all the taxes placed on every cigarette that has been smoked.

- Smoking must be banned whether in Australia or somewhere else. It is really very harmful, not only for smokes but also those who live with them. We must take some initiative to stop it.

- It's crazy to smoke, but all the laws in the world don't seem to make much of a difference. In the USA and UK when you exit office buildings, you now have to run the gauntlet of everyone who has gone outside to smoke, so you still can't get away from it.
