If you serve alcohol GET T.I.P.S Certified TODAY!

T.I.P.S stands for: Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers of Alcohol

There are a few questions I would have to ask you first. What is your experience in the trade? Novice, looking to break into the trade or have you been in the trade for years and now everywhere you apply you are finding that the employer is looking for Certified Bartenders?
The novice would have to find a "Bartender School" if you fall in this category scroll down and read all about "Bartender Schools"!
If you are an experienced Bartender don't be fooled into thinking you have to attend Bartender School to become a Certified Bartender. Alcohol Certification is not knowing 200 drink receipts. Alcohol Certification explains how Alcohol works, signs of intoxication, factors that affect the intoxication rate and knowing your State and Local Laws and regulations. If you are a Bartender proctect yourself even if the establishment you work in does not require you to be certified. You are resposible for the actions of others if you serve them alcohol.

Why Should I Be TIPS Certified?
TIPS Alocoholic beverage server training is now mandatory in many states. Servers of alcohol must complete the training within 30 days of commencing employment.

What this means to you as a liquor-serving employee is that you not only receive protection in the event of an alcohol-involved incident, but you will become more hirable by these quality companies since you will already be certified by the top acohol service program that has over 2 million graduates over the last 20 years.

We know you have a tough schedule and that's why we offer live telephone support to make sure you don't waste time if you're in need of technical assistance

Before you serve a Flaming Shot!! Watch This.

The proper procedure for Flaming Shots and how to serve them properly. Any Liquor that is 80 proof or higher will flame. The higher the proof the easier it is to ignite, 151 will light quicker than 80 proof. Pour the shot into the Shot glass, using a lighter slightly warm the outside of the glass, a few seconds is plenty of time. Next carefully put the flame from the lighter on the liquor and hold until the liquor ignites. Now if the customer is at the Bar light the shot in front of them. Prior to the customer taking the shot put a larger glass upside down over the flaming shot. Think of putting a cover over a candle, it takes away the oxygen and the flame goes out! NEVER SERVE THE SHOT LIT!!!! If you are wondering why play the video again. You and the establishment are liable for any injuries to the customer. Flaming the shot does not make the shot taste better, it just make it look great!
If the customer is seated away from the Bar the waiter/waitress should carry the shot to the table NOT LIT and then fallow the same procedure as the Bartender would.

Remember that even after you put the shot out the shot glass itself will be hot! It can get hot enough to burn the customer's lips if you do not allow the shot glass to cool for a few seconds!

I'm sure it takes a very special personality to be a really good bartender. That flaming shot looked really cool, at first. Ouch!

Buy your customers a drink

Think of it as an investment

When I say buy your customers a drink I mean buy them a drink! Take the money out of your tip jar and purchase the drink. Let your customer not only know that you are buying the drink, let them see you pay for it with your own money. If you don't own the bar and you give the customer a drink, it's stealing.Ok unless you have comp rights. Still you are not buying the drink, the house is. Of course the customer likes a free drink either way but if you pay for it, it becomes more personal. Think of it as an investment in your business. Repeat customers are our best tippers. Treat them well and they will return time and time again. Don't forget you will be tipped on that drink. Most of, if not all of your investment in that repeat customer is returned on the spot!

Cheers
