How to Make Your Own Custom Photo Button @ Buttons of Hope.com (It's Easy)

We will help you make your own custom photo button just like the one here of Janine that inspired it all.

Personal Note: I talk a lot about Janine Kelker and her picture seems to be everywhere. Who is Janine? There's a good reason for that -- I did not know Janine but after making hundred of buttons I feel like I know her. I made buttons for Janine's family and friends for a MADD Strides for Change Walk & then a Habitat for Humanity build in her honor.

I have become friends with Janine's parents Mary and John. Mary's words inspire me everyday...

"Every time I look in the mirror, Janine is looking back at me on my button. My Husband and I do not leave the house without our buttons. As a parent who has lost a child, my greatest fear is that she will be forgotten."

FIRST | Finding the Perfect Picture

Making your custom photo button

It may take you a bit to find the perfect picture of your loved one or friend -- that one picture that defines them. Be prepared to laugh, smile and maybe even cry a bit while looking through all those computer photos, albums & shoeboxes...but then you see it... THE PERFECT PICTURE!

If the photo is on your computer first make a note of the file location and then go to the Create a Button page @ Buttons of Hope and upload the photo.

If you're perfect picture happens to be the old fashioned kind -- no problem simply find a Kinkos (find a store here) and the fine people there will help you scan and save it to a CD which you can then easily upload to your computer...(TIP: while you're at it take 8 or 10 pictures and scan them to the CD too!)
or...
send it to me and I will scan it for you, make your button and return your original photo & a digital version at no cost!

STEP #1 How to upload your photo

STEP #2 How to add text to your photo button

Making your Custom Photo Button @ Buttons of Hope.com

The beautiful face really does say it all - but you may want to add a name or short phrase to make your button truly personal.
And because of some really whiz bang technology we are the only place on the internet where you can add curved text to a button -- so you see more of that pretty face!

What should I say on the button?

In Honor Of, Walking For, In Memory Of,
My Hero...

You have a bunch of font and color options. It's a good idea to outline -- you will really like to results -- !TIP! black or white outline works best with most font colors.
Re: Re: Re: Buttons of Hope - Create a button
Here's an example of font (sweet as candy) and color (pink) size (medium) outline (white medium) that looks great!

About michaelgibbons

"A year ago Mike Gibbons had never done any fund-raising. Now he hopes
to change the world"
Regan White in "Message in a Button", Charlotte Weekly November 2006.

Upon reading that I was at first taken aback -- not exactly the kind of thing you want to lead with especially if your stated goal is to "change the face of fundraising". But as I thought about it IT IS PRECISELY what I want people to know and now I open all of my fundraising seminars with that line.

Fundraising is not easy nor is it as hard as you might think. I am proof of that and I am out to help ordinary people do extraordinary things -- the task is not easy but the answer is inside of each of us!

I kinda wish Regan had use this opening line instead..

"Here's to the crazy ones...because the people who are crazy enough to THINK they can change the world, are the ones who do."

Maybe the combination of the two sums it up -- I have been lucky enough to find a group of remarkable people, my cycling team MojoRiding and together we have become somewhat of a fund raising phenomenon (often in spite of ourselves I might add!) --we raised over $110,000 in 2007 for cancer and multiple sclerosis causes.

So how did we do it? We personalized our cause, we told a story, many stories! And then we took it a step further we made it tangible -- many of us made photo buttons of our loved ones to wear while fundraising -- can't fully explain it but there is just something powerful about these little buttons  --I have seen it make a difference and in some cases all the difference!

I hope you will take a look around (grab a cup of coffee) at what I am building here on Squidoo. I have tried to make unique, useful and updated lenses on active charity events. If you like the lenses then please visit my blog Behind the Button and of course my website Buttons of Hope -- where you too can go on make a custom photo button to wear in YOUR charity event

The title of the full quote above is THINK DIFFERENT. Regan was right I am out to Change the World by helping people to not only think different but to be different -- it will change you and together we will be the change we wish to see...I hope one button at a time!
