Customer Retention and What It Can Mean For You
Using a customer retention strategy can boost your business profits to higher levels.
What exactly is "customer retention"? Well, it's how you keep your customers coming back to you instead of going to someone else to purchase their products.
Statistics show that for every month you are not in contact with your customers, you lose 10 percent of your influence over them. There are several ways you can keep your customers coming back to you.
-One way is by calling them. This great for following up with them once a month before they make a purchase from you, but you may not have time to call them every month after they purchase.
-Another way is to send them an email. But more times than not, people will open an email and delete it right away, if they even open it to begin with. If your subject line doesn't capture their attention, they won't even open it.
-A third way, (my favorite) is to send them a greeting card. Greeting cards come right in the mail and get opened. They can sit on the table or counter for days, even weeks or months. They are reminders that their loved ones are thinking of them.

Some Benefits of Using a Customer Retention Strategy
-People love getting cards in the mail, whether it is their birthday, anniversary, holiday or just because. Why? Because it's unexpected.
-When your customers receive a greeting card in the mail from you, they are going to know that you value them as a person, not just a sale. They will keep coming back to you again and again. And it is so much easier to keep your existing customers than to go out and find new ones.
-Let's say your client referred someone to you. That person then purchased a product from you. You can send a greeting card to the client that made the referral thanking them for sending the referral to you.
-Using a customer retention strategy can save us time. As busy business owners, we have a tendency to have more to do than there is time in the day. If we had to call hundreds (maybe thousands) of clients every month, there simply wouldn't be time to do all of the other things we need to do.
-Customer retention strategies are easy to use and you don't even have to leave your house to use them. They can be done with a click of the mouse from your computer.
-They are very affordable. Have you ever gone into your local grocery store or greeting card store and spent upwards, sometimes even more, of $20 on just a few cards? I know i have, but I don't anymore. It doesn't have to be that expensive. Not in these hard economic times.
