Are You Frustrated?

Well I am! I am the kind of person who expects results really quickly. I've been toning my arms and legs for a month now and while I see some improvement in my arms I don't see much of a result in my legs, which are my one true target. I'm currently using leg weights, a treadmill with a fairly steep incline, pilates, and some Zumba dance routines. Currently, I'm looking at other "leg" options, like stairmasters and ellipticals. My goal is to pinpoint something that is both effective, on-target, and affordable.

I'm going for those legs! Legs like that look great with anything on, even your pajamas! It feels great to be able to feel some power in your legs (and the rest of your body too). The great thing about exercise is that is takes you away from your thoughts and helps you to be aware of your body. You tune into what your muscles feel like, your skin, you lungs when you're breathing hard. Our bodies are ignored a lot in our daily life what with the endless stampede of thoughts. Pilates is a great way to be more aware of your body. A friend once told me that it's not just the moves you perform during exercise, it's also how aware you are of your body as you perform them that makes the difference.

What Machines To Get Exactly?

XBOX KinectI believe the first thing to do when you're setting up that exclusive gym corner is to decide what your fitness plan is. Mine, obviously, is to tone my legs. The other thing to think about too is what sort of exercises you're prepared to perform. With me, I realized that I get bored with the same exercise if I do it over and over again. Therefore, I made a point of mixing up my exercises in the most cost effective way. I bought XBOX Kinect. Yes, can you believe that? But if you think about it, XBOX Kinect gets you moving and makes it so much fun because you use your full body, no joystick or controller needed. Once you invest in XBOX, all you need to do is update your software collection.

Getting the advice of a professional trainer may be helpful and may save you a lot of trouble and money so you would not end up buying something that does not fit you exercise goals. This is especially true if you're going for those heavy duty exercise machines. These machines cater to so many different exercises. For example, Bowflex has an all-in-one muscle building machine called Xtreme 2 SE . This is the kind of machine you would use if your focus is muscle building and you want to be able to exercise your upper and lower body using only one unit.

If you're planning to mix in some cardio, treadmills, treadclimbers, and stairmasters, may be the way to go, but the muscle focus will be more on the legs (yay for me!). Bowflex TC5000, Proform 590T, and Proform 785 are all great options to consider. Each one of these machines has something different to offer. Proform 590T Treadmill, is actually a foldable treamdill, so you can tuck it away, out of the way, when you're done with it.

I think what makes a home gym a more inviting option is when it doesn't take up much space. Also, light! Light! Light! and good ventilation. I cannot imagine exercising in a place that has little light and little air. I find it suffocating. Reducing clutter also makes the space less like a burden. If you want a set of dumbbells, for example, why not get a set like Bowflex 1090 Dumbbells, they come as one pair of dumbbells on which you adjust the dial to add or shed more resistance. They're brilliant!

On the other hand, I would personally prefer to be outdoors, riding a bike or hiking a trail, but let's not go there! Where I live, there is little opportunity to do these things. If you can and love the outdoors, then please please get out there and enjoy yourself! I think you achieve more and see results faster when you do something that you enjoy, not only physically but also spiritually.
