Well, I was never one to dress my big brutes in cute dog clothes, but when I adopted a dear little Maltese Poodle cross from death row at the Pound, I was to become a fan!

Casper (the friendly white ghost) is an elderly dog, who needed to be cleaned up, be neutered, have some rotten teeth pulled, and to get a good bath and haircut. Well he came back from the groomer bald as a billiard ball!

Poor little fellow shivered through the night, so the next day I went shopping for dog clothes, to only be able to find ugly candy striped jumpers, and one cute Tshirt with denim bib & brace. Totally useless really for his warmth and comfort, but I couldn't resist it because it was SO CUTE!!!!

After making do with the ugly jumpers for a while I realized I would have to keep a good supply of clothes for all seasons on hand, as he also needed some warmth on cold evening in spring and autumn, but not warm woolies like for winter.... so the fashion parade wardrobe began - lol!

The good news for me, since shopping choices are totally limited in my small home town, was that I discovered a delightful world of cute dog clothes online.

You need a wardrobe of different styles coat for dogs for all the seasons.

Nowadays, its soooo much easier to find cute dog clothes, because I can just go on the internet and pick some of the most darling and comfortable designs for him, and have them delivered to the door. If you love this red sweater pictured, just click on the picture to learn how to buy it online.

And the prices I find online are actually a lot cheaper than what you pay in pet stores or the larger department stores that carry pet clothes.

I've never been one to dress up my two dachshunds (one long-haired black and tan 10 lbs and one red short-haired 15 lbs.)

However, my long-haired baby came home from the vet with one on and she never wants to take it off. When we pull it out, she jumps into it. Okay, okay - I got it. We own sweater-dogs. FINE.

So, I ordered two sweaters originally - one for each of them. The extra-small for my 10 pounder and small for my 15 pounder.

Did not work as I planned. The little one fit the small and I had to re-order a medium for my short-hair baby.

They fit great, they wash up great, the button detail on the front is adorable, as with the bone on the back.

I recommend these sweaters - they are super cute and a good value!

My Chihuahua has a prominent chest bone and his front legs are wide set.

Sweaters and clothes usually pull and slip low on hist chest bone and look bad. This still does not pull funny. He looks very handsome.

And it stay away from his you know so he doesn't potty on it. No leg straps either. I hate leg straps.

This is a winner. Wish it was also in black or grey. This blue looks great on his fawn body color. Dashing!

There is a huge selection of cute and comfortable small dog clothes available online!

If you have only seen ugly looking dog clothes apparel at your pet stores, you are going to love shopping here.

It can be really difficult to find clothes that fit your small dog and that look cute at the same time. Poor Casper spent a lot of time in knitted candy-stripe cardigans before I finally found some better looking coats for him!

If you can spend time looking at some of the designs here and not find one you like, I will be more than a little surprised!

I do suggest that when you shop you should buy the next size up from what you think your dog size is. This is partly because of some designers seeming to have no idea what real dog sizing is, and also to allow for some shrinkage as the dog clothes get washed and dried etc. as time goes by.

If you live in a cold climate, your little dog will not cope well with the weather, as their tiny bodies just can't sustain the heat then need to be comfortable. So make sure you get a supply of comfortable and tough dog coats, and some very warm snuggly bedding for the cold nights where they really suffer.

Casper sleeps in his coat on really cold nights, and has a variety of dog beds to select from, but likes his bean bag in winter, so I think the foam beads must provide good heat insulation for him.

Great lens! I have a King Shepherd that is 150 lbs and a Great Dane that is about the same weight; so far we have not found anything that fits well.........but still looking. These are some great resources for our search!

You can always try and search in your favorite stores or even try and look online. On the internet your choices may widen because f the presence of countless sites you can venture into.

Holy, you have a comprehensive lens here! I share a similar story with you: I used to think these little dog and puppy clothes for cheap that people would buy and make their dogs wear were crazy. And then I join-adopted a chihuahua rescue from the pound and now, voila!--I have a pile of little chihuahua clothes! hahaha!

Yes, I too changed my mind quickly (and even gave in to the impulse to buy a couple of outfits extra, just because they were CUTE!) when the cold weather hit. It's becoming colder here now, so Casper will soon be wearing his little zoot suits again.

I think my little puppy fashionista has about 50 outfits. Unfortunately having a beagle build but the size of a chihuahua, 90% of ready made dog clothes don't fit her... which means I have to give them alterations or sew them myself. On the other hand, how many dogs do you know with more than 10 winter coats, 4 cheerleading outfits and multiple formal ball gowns? (No, she's not spoiled at all!)

The mini-beagle shape sure is tricky - maybe its an idea for a sideline in creating dog outfits for odd shapes?

I can't believe that she didn't mind wearing it at all, just trotted around the house, eating her treats with the adorable hat on her head - lol!

Thanks for the feedback! I can't resist cute dog clothes - Casper is wearing his warm winter parka coat at the moment. He even wears it in the house in the evenings since he had a haircut recently and he's just so tiny - poor little cutie pie.
