How To Make A Spider Costume From A Hoodie

A Basic Spider Costume Pattern For Kids

Black Hoodie spider costumeThis is the fun part! You've gone to the craft store and shopped for your Halloween spider costume supplies; hopefully you have all your ideas ready to go in your head or on paper!

Prepare your glue gun.

Cut your 8x10 fabric into an hourglass or heart shape, and then cut down the middle. (One half for each side of the hoodie.)

Glue the fabric to the front of the hoodie on either side of the zipper.

Glue your googly eyes to the front of the hood. I like to put mine on little pom pom balls for more pop!

Next you make the legs by using the pantyhose, or socks. You can start by connecting the zip ties into circles and stuffing about 3 into the hose. Then you stuff the filling in there and shape the legs into the positions you like. sometimes I run a straight zip tie through for extra shaping or to add a kink.

Carefully fold the opening of the hose shut and seal it with the hot glue. Add a Velcro strip onto the hot glue before it melts. Apply pressure and leave to dry. The Velcro will attach the leg to the hoodie. You do this for the remaining three legs.

Flip your hoodie over and attach the other side of the Velcro to the hoodie to hold your legs in place.

After all the glue is dried, you can decorate the hoodie more if you like.

Oh this costume is darling for a little infant child. Everyone will want to hold this adorable little spider when they see him. I almost wish my kids were still little enough to dress them up in cutesie costumes, but they have far outgrown that stage at this point.

If your child want to be a little scarier this Halloween, this is the costume for him, its not over the top, still cute, but the red and black combination make it darker for sure. You might want to get him a reflector light for this costume though, because it is very dark.
