Not only the fact we are responsible for something that needs attention, you need to get up when it wants out, you need to be there to feed it, so your day is restricted when you own a dog, but the simple fact that we can love our animal, shower it with attention and it loves us back, with a wag of its tail and those beautiful eyes.
A dog makes you care for someone other than yourself and teaches you this from a young age.
I have been a dog owner all my life, and I see now, the huge benefit it has to our daughter, no matter what she has a friend, someone to greet her at the door, someone to make a fuss of her if she is upset. I watch as I see her sneak past with the dog, and the I find her upstairs in her bed, talking away as though all her troubles are melting away! She will take the dogs for their walks and has dedicated time to training them with me, and teaching them tricks.
Our family take regular walks with the dogs, and this in turn is quality time with our family. the rain is streaming from the heavens but still we put on our jackets to walk our two very large dogs, because they need it, now there is nothing wrong with being all cozied up for the day on the couch, honestly it is a thought but there is nothing more exhilarating than a brisk walk in the rain to freshen and liven you all up.
But our most favorite thing of all, watching DVDs with the dogs all snuggled into us.
