Here are cartoons of two chinchillas and two long eared jerboas I was drawing. I kept wanting to draw big ears and I wondered why. To listen more?, I thought.
When I saw the preview of the upcoming movie, Tale of Despereaux, I fell in love, and thought, maybe that's why I am attracted to drawing BIG EARS?
Here is the cute eared mouse star of the upcoming movie. Those are the cutest big ears I have ever seen! For me it was love at first sight.
I had been drawing lots of fish for a year before Finding Nemo came out. I wonder if I was somehow connecting into those animator's creative explorations studying fish and cute furry creature drawings?
Or... maybe in the movie, there is a special message in the story I can learn from????

Mark Parisi does brilliantly clever cartoons that are also cute in his fun way. I love him. Oh, and also his cartoons. Example: Mr. Frog at the doctors office getting news about his xrays. In the picture you can see that Mr. Frog looks a lot like Kermit and the xray shows a hand skeleton going up into his head... "Have a seat Mr. Frog, these xrays may come as a shock to you..." What a great mind.

- I've read every children's book I can find by this wonderful zany wild fun Babette Cole! Her stories say things Bold and delightfully unexpected. I think I remember "...then Grandma and Grandpa dropped dead" And she does it with such style and fun, it works beautifully. She is from Dorset, England. After you read some and look at the carazzzy characters in her books, you just want to meet her, or spend the day on a wild adventure with her. I can (and do) read her books OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I think kids love them too. Take a look at the book covers at an Amazon module I made for just her titles. I realized I hadn't read them all! A boy and a bear go on a jaunt through Berryland.
Everytime I reread this, it still feels so good in a warm comfort fun way. This was my first meeting with Bruce Degen who now also illustrates several of the Magic School Bus books and Mz. Frizzle Adventures for author Joanna Cole. I love his cute cartoon art and rhymes. This book was both written and illustrated by him. See a few more books below that he illustrates.

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards is simply the best book I know of to teach drawing. (This is for real life drawing, not cartoons) It teaches a way of seeing and how to make a mental shift where you can feel a part of yourself take control.. if you let it... and that part of your brain ALREADY KNOWS HOW TO DRAW! I have seen a number of people blown over by this experience in the happiest of ways. It has changed lives. It is a wonderful confidence builder. You learn how you have two different modes of approach to seeing and doing and how to refine and use them. And... YOU JUST CAN DRAW! It's one of the best surprises to see this occur for oneself. I highly recommend this book.

- (*Note, this is in Thai- The English version was taken off of u-tube) Phil Collins wrote incredible songs for the Disney's Animated Movie: Tarzan. This song, Son of Man, is one of my favorites. Kala,(Glenn Close), is Tarzan's adopted ape-mom. The voice of young Tarzan is performed by 5 year-old Alex D. Linz. (3.28 min clip) Lyrics: "Oh, the power to be strong, And the wisdom to be wise. - (*Note this is in French, the english version was taken off of utube) This scene and song is one of my all time favorites- EVER. Young lion cub Simba (Jason Weaver sings) (movie voice played by Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Nala (sung by Laura Williams) (movie voice by Niketa Calame) and are following the bird Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) on an adventure. A little mischief and a great fun romp put to fantastic music and words we can all relate to.

- Another Grand Masterpiece. I don't know why but it ALWAYS makes me cry-- in a good way, it always gets me. I think if we met aliens from a different planet, I would play them this about who we are. Sung beautifully by Carmen Twillie. Song and Lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice. . Wow, I think I'm a romantic, why does this song make me cry!!??

- This is a very cute AND SWEET, little story of a a girl and two boys on a days adventure in the forest with animals. It's amazing in the feel of it, you can tell its not from USA. I can't describe the style, but you'll feel it. It's good hearted, good natured, and fun loving. It's a light hearted romp - soft rather than intense. Sweet. I started out ho-hum, but by the time it was over, I found I had enjoyed myself and felt warmed. I rate this VERY VERY CUTE.
