The sad look of a pouting puppy is almost more than any of us can bear. The lowered head, the sad eyes, and the drooping tail converge to overwhelm even the most stearn puppy parent. This look is most common when the puppy has been reprimanded; whether for chewing on things that are off limits, having a bit of an "accident", or perhaps merely playing too rough. In the end it's all forgiven with one flash of the dejected puppy face.

Our first contestant is this forlorn little pup whose entire demeanor begs forgiveness for some terrible sin. This face gives him a bit of an unfair advantage in our contest but it may still be the look that melts your heart




Our second tormented canine tot leaves nothing to the imagination as far as his offense. The perennial terror of domestic destruction is often associated with pups left on their own and without a suitable playmate. Underwear, socks, shoes, toilet paper, and apparently, yarn are common targets for their misdirected energy. They just can't seem to help themselves. Even before the lecture, he knows he's made a grievous error and judgement day just arrived in the room. Whether it's planned or not, this face wields tremendous power over victims of his terror.

Number 4 says, Huh? This West Highland Terrier may be a bit confused but he's still among the most adorable pups we've seen. What do you say?

Our fifth nominee in the Curious Pup category is truly baffled. This youngster has stopped his frolicking in the snow and is far too serious and confused. You need to vote for him quickly before he wilts under the pressure.

Our first contender is a roly, poly Lab pup who isn't constrained by stereotypes. Some may see felines as the arch enemy of a dog, but innocence knows no such bounds.

Like our first nominee, the cutest puppies can be found, curled up resting amid some of the strangest objects. They seem to merely drop where they have expended the last of their energy.

This darling lab puppy is our second contender. With eyes squeezed shut and his oversized paws stretched out he's clearly in dreamland.

Our third nominee is a demonstration of the total relaxation that many puppies experience. On the back, front legs extended, and belly exposed, at least one of these pups hasn't a care in the world.

This pup is as one with the sofa, how can that not be adorable? This totally relaxed canine is our fourth nominee.

It may not be what you expect in that basket, it's a puppy. One very soft and fluffy puppy. Why does that make him so irresistible? Who knows?! Anyway, add in the shiny coat and sad eyes, and you have to wonder if this first nominee is the cutest puppy.

Our third contender doesn't have to bark, howl, or whimper to communicate his thought. One look at those eyes tells you all you need to know.

Our fourth nominee is an energetic pup. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose ears may help him take flight at any moment.

Although we can't read puppy minds, our fifth nominee certainly appears to be a happy little guy. Even if you don't vote for him as the cutest puppy, you have to admit he makes you smile.

Puppies on a big adventure certainly make for a lot of cute. A first snow qualifies and this, our sixth nominee, captures the mood.

Our seventh contender for the title of cutest puppy is this scruffy little guy. Cute or preposterous, only you can decide.

Number eight is a West Highland Terrier. He's so earnest looking, we won't tell him he's cute so that he can continue to think he's the worlds' best guard dog.

Our ninth contender for the title of cutest puppy is true to his bloodlines. Born to track he appears to be on the job already.

The Golden Retriever pup in our tenth nominee spot may slowly be squirming his way across the floor and into our hearts. We think he has the qualities to get your vote for the cutest puppy.

If you have a puppy that chews you have "slobber". Even though you don't see it here with our eleventh nominee, you know it's there. That one eyed look shows his committment to the task. The "slobber" and dogged persistence of a bulldog pup has to qualify him for a top spot in our cutest puppies contest doesn't it?




As with so many of our candidates, number twelve, a cocker spaniel, exhibits the forlorn look that makes puppies so adorable.

It's true we may be cheating here with a whole pack of puppies, but contestant(s) Number thirteen are too adorable to miss. These siblings manage to make simple running and barking a cause to celebrate.

At number fourteen is a Beagle pup. These little guys don't ask for attention; no, they demand it. And who are we, as individuals so overcome with cute, to deny them?

Number 15 on our list of nominees for the cutest puppies is another West Highland Terrer. Probably at work again, but being cute despite his best efforts.

A vote for number sixteen would be a nod of support for this long haired Dachshund pup (and his color coordinated kitten pal).
