Cornwall Volkswagen Owners Club

Ranked #3,448 in Cars, #193,773 overall

CVWOC - a family orientated Club for everyone interested in Volkswagens

The Cornwall Volkswagen Owners Club is the oldest Volkswagen Club in the County of Cornwall having been formed back in the 1960's
We welcome anyone interested in the Volkswagen marque be they an enthusiast of the air cooled engine powered vehicles or, the later, water cooled varieties. Indeed, all types produced by the now very large Volkswagen Family.

We hold regular monthly get togethers when we hold perhaps a cruise to a venue of interest either locally or, if weekend camping is involved to farther flung destinations. As a group attendance to many of the national VW shows takes plce with everyone camping together on a club pitch. There are always numerous young children in evidence and we pride ourselves on ensuring that they are looked after and kept safe even if mum and dad take a short break there will always be a baby sitter on hand.

Join Cornwall Volkswagen Owners Club,

Annual Swapmeet Easter 2009

Our first outside event of the season

Superb Autosyl Brasillia makes its debut - Cornwall can produce World Quality CarsIn 2004 we held our first Swapmeet at the Victoria Hall, Roche, St Austell. Since then the event has become annual and 2009 saw the 6th event take place. In 2008 Easter was very early and the weather was to say the least bitterly cold with snow flurries at pack up time! The 2009 event was a complete contrast being warm and sunny with wall to wall blue sky.

A good crowd came along as can be seen in the photographs showing in the Flicker Gallary below. In usual fashion we managed to attract an excellent collectionof vehicles ranging from the older split screen air cooled buses through the Bay Window buses and Type 25's to the newer front wheel drive T4's and T5's. Cars ranged from the classic to the new Beetle, Mk 1 Golf upwards, Scirocco,Corrado and many other air cooled vehicles. There were two Karmann Ghias and a small collection of off road Baja machinery too. Oh yes and a 911 too.

Trading was brisk and unlike last year everyone wanted to be outside this time and a wide range of new to very well used parts were evident and being purchased left an right.

There as one debut appearance and this was by the superb Brasillia in exquisite metalic Gold finish. This car later appeared at the Volksworld Show. The type is quite rare here in the UK.

Some funds were raised for our nominated charities for 2009, the George Appeal and The HCPT Trust.

Catering was provided too and at around 3.00pm we all departed for home having enjoyed a very enjoyable and sociable event indeed..

Roseland Peninsula Cruise 2009

Cruise from St Austell to St Anthony via St Mawes

Johns new Split Screen BusA glorious day greeted uf for our first cruise of the year and it was only March for goodness sake. We now kn ow of course that bthis was lulling us into afalse sense of security as subsequently warm and sunny weekends in 2009 were few and far between.

We all headed for and met at the Cornnish Market World at Par Nr St Austell and departed for our cruise back out of St Austell towards Truro. As ever with the variety of roundabouts and traffic lights en route we soon found ourselves fragmented into two main bodies and as we neared St Mawes it became apparent that we would have to continue separately and meet at the National Trust Car Park above St Anthony lighthouse. St Anthony is better known to many as Fraggle Rock lighthouse having featured in the well know childrens show of that name.

The pictures below tell the story better than my wordscan and as you can see it was actually warm enough to sit outside and drink tea.

On the way back some of us decided to take the short cut and come over the River Fal on the King Harry car ferry
.A short wait and a bit pricey but saves a good few miles and gets you back home for tea that much earlier!

John debuted his new Split Screen [The vright maroon one in the pictures] John, as ever you have worked wonders in your garageworkshop over the winter. Well done, excellent, you should be very proud.
