Dragonfly Dreams Series of Children's Books - the Inspiration Behind C-Wings Books
I grew up in North Louisiana a bit of tomboy and a bit of brainy girl. My brothers and I were always in the woods around our house building forts and pretending that we were in a magical forest. I was intrigued by the idea of all winged creatures like angels, fairies, and sprites. I wanted all fantasy creatures to be real, and I wanted to be the only one to see them. Mermaids, unicorns, little forest people and of course, fairies with small sacks of magic dust.
My love for school gave me a chance to express these ideas on paper and expand my ideas with subjects including World History, Greek Mythology, and English Literature.
And somewhere along the way, I found real magic in dragonflies, the same way someone would in fireflies. However, where the magic of fireflies seems to be in their light, every dragonfly appears unique. So, I can imagine them each living very unique lives, like we do.
So my love for dragonflies resulted in 4 children's books in which my mom, an artist still in North Louisiana. Book 1 in the Dragonfly Dreams Series, Sebastian the Dragonfly, was published at end of 2006. Book 2, Sabina the Beach Fly, was published at the end of 2007, and Book 3, Sherwood and Vega - Forest Flies, was published in September of 2009.
Since I self published, I am also self promoting! So C-Wings Books has grown into screen printed t-shirts and ready to frame artwork, both taken directly from the artwork in the books. From there, I began hand crafting gemstone dragonfly jewelry and Catholic rosaries with handpainted Crucifixes.
I hope what you see here will make you want to find your wings and fly!

World Peace Rosary
with Immaculate Heart Centerpiece
Amazing gemstone world peace rosary made with 8mm round "Hail Mary" beads consisting of tree jade, turquoise, white howlite, red jasper, and picture jasper. Handmade Glass Tube "Our Father" beads, antiqued flower accents, handpainted carved bone "Chalice Eucharist/Clover" Crucifix and "Immaculate Heart" Centerpiece.
Inspired by Blessed Mother Theresa, each decade of this rosary represents a different continent of the world - yellow = Asia, blue = Oceans and Islands, white = Europe, red = the Americas and green = Africa.

I came from a place that was dark and damp and quiet; I was very happy there; glad for the stillness and security. When the door to my little home began to open up, I felt all these new sensations; my soft wings began to unfold and for the first time, I was able to stretch. The breeze was crisp on my wet body and for the first time, I felt my skin begin to dry. I wasn't sure about this place. There were new sounds, new feelings, new friends, and new enemies. For the first time, I felt fear and wanted to retreat immediately back into my quiet place. Then I saw the light - a brightness I did not know existed. At the same time I realized my wings were dry and stiff. Unlike the softness they had before, I was able to use them to maneuver in the wind. I could fly. I could soar towards the brilliant sun and bask in its warmth. I would find peace in this new place. For the first time, I understood the circle of my life - the ring of the dragonfly. - Yolanda, thanks so much for visiting my dragonfly lens -- and welcome to Squidoo! I am a fan of dragonflies, damselflies, and birds of all kinds. Have you ever seen a migration of dragonflies? Most awe-inspiring vision for sure. We see many dragonflies in our backyard which backs up to a nature preserve.

- I love the winged creatures, mainly songbirds and birds of prey. They are fascinating to watch. I never thought about the dragonfly. I need to look into that.
