Symptoms of ovarian cyst

Ovarian cyst symptoms will vary depending on the type of cyst ovary that you have. While some cysts cause intense pain and obvious changes in your body, others don't have any symptoms at all. However, there are some symptoms that are commonly associated with the presence of ovarian cysts:

• achiness in the in the back (especially the lower back) and upper legs
• breast tenderness
• irregular menstrual cycles
• nausea and/or vomiting
• painful sex
• pressure and/or pain in the abdomen
• pressure and/or pain on the bladder and/or rectum
• problems passing urine
• weight gain.

You have to remind yourself that these symptoms can be associated with many other illnesses including endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Therefore, it is important to have a physical exam to rule out other health conditions as a cause of your symptoms.

Symptoms of ovarian cancer

The scary thing about ovarian cancer is that many women don't experience any symptoms or have any signs until the cancer is in the latter developmental stages. Here are some of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer:

• General abdominal discomfort and/or pain (gas, indigestion, pressure, swelling, bloating, cramps)
• Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, or frequent urination
• Loss of appetite
• Feeling of fullness even after a light meal
• Weight gain or loss with no known reason
• Abnormal bleeding from the vagina

If you have any of these symptoms before you panic you should know that like the symptoms of cyst ovaries, the symptoms of ovarian cancer are generic enough to be caused by other health conditions. If you are concerned and especially if you have a family history that includes ovarian cancer, it is t important to be examined by your physician.

If diagnosed with cyst ovaries, your doctor's treatment protocol may include antibiotics, birth control pills or simply taking a "let's wait a few months and see what happens" position. All of which address the symptoms or consequences of the cyst but not the root cause.

As you contemplate your treatment options, keep in mind that conventional medicine may in fact be able to offer a short term solution but holistic treatment plans help you to address the reason the cyst formed in the first place and take the necessary steps to shrink the cyst you currently have and prevent new cyst ovaries from forming again.
