A Song For Daddy

From One Bride to her Father

On Saturday, May 29, 2010, our middle daughter married her best friend. After six years of dating and a friendship that has spanned more than a decade, they finally took the big step. This daughter had a lot of unique ideas that made this day quite special. One of the most special memories she created was a song she wrote for her Daddy. She recorded it and had the DJ play it for the Father/Daughter dance. There were many who left the reception hoping they could hear it again and see the words. So, this page is especially dedicated to my husband and second daughter. I hope you enjoy what you'll find here!

Daddy's Little Girl

Cabbage patch kids and Barbie Dolls, I loved to play with when I was small
Tonka dump trucks and race car tracks Among the other things you made sure I had
As I Dance in your arms right here I think of how they held me through my tears
And now our last names are not the same
But I know some things that will never ever change

CHORUS

'Cause I will always remember:
To use Elbow grease when I'm cleaning chrome
Make sure it's not too late when I get home
Take a few steps then kick the ball "Daddy's here to catch you should you start to fall"
Now I go to find my place in this world I'll remember to be Daddy's Little Girl

We worked together on that bike You promised I could have the very first ride
Though I never did cut the grass, I can bring you almost any tool you ask
Kicking footballs out in yard You taught me how and you know I tried hard
"Best Friends Forever" is what it said. I was always better with a needle and thread

CHORUS

BRIDGE
I'll check the oil before I drive I'll stand by him and be a good wife
I will remember the lessons you taught I know you love me no matter what

FINAL CHORUS

And I will always remember When you eat spaghetti you drink chocolate milk
If I get stuck don't be afraid to ask for help
Faith and prayer will always see you through
Don't give up on God, He won't give up on you
You gave me away to find my place in this world
But I'll always be Daddy's little girl
Yes I'll always be Daddy's little girl
Remember, Daddy, I'm your little girl

So happy to hear of the wonderful success of your beautiful and talented daughters. We often wonder about them and how they are doing. We watched then grow for a short time when Steve was Pastor at Clarksburg United Methodist Church. We were always impressed by their poise, grace and faith. Thanks for keeping us informed.
