If the defendant remains in jail he/she will be brought to the court on the jail chain (inmates are brought to the courts in a group through secured access). The defendant will not be brought to court on his/her own request, but at the request of the court or the attorney. In most courts this occurs within two business days after arrest. If the defendant is not brought down to court or notified that an attorney has been appointed, then the defendant should request the sheriff allow written communication with the court.
If the defendant is set for a jury trial (six chosen citizens in misdemeanors / twelves chosen citizens in felonies, hear the case and render a verdict) the defendant will be dressed out in the clothes original worn when arrested. Family or friends may bring additional clothes for the trial (see discussion of proper clothes below). The clothes should be taken to the jail, and the sheriff will be able to provide them the day of the trial. At all other times, the defendant is brought to court in jail uniform.
If on bond, the defendant will be notified by mail (at the address the defendant provides when the bond is signed) as to the date, time and particular court to appear. On the court date, the defendant should do directly to that court and have a seat inside the courtroom at the time indicated on the letter from the court and if represented by an attorney, follow instructions of the attorney. The defendant must be in court on the date and time instructed or the judge will forfeit the bond for failure to appear which will cause a warrant to be issued for arrest!

FAQ's on Bail Bonds
A bail bond is a promise from the bondsman to pay the sheriff a specified amount (the amount of the bail). If the defendant (person in jail) does not show up in court, all of the paperwork and liability is primarily assumed by the bail bond company.
You pay the bondman a percentage of the bail amount to assume the responsibilities of paperwork, liability, bond forfeiture and re-arrest.
2. How long does it take to get out of jail?
The paperwork we require takes 15-20 minutes. Usually it takes 2 to 4 hours to get out of the Lou Sterritt Jail. If the holding facility is particularly "busy", the hold time can be considerably longer. We will work as fast as possible on your bail bond.
3. Why don't I get my money back?
The bail bondsman charges a non-refundable fee to perform the paper work, legwork and "hassel" of getting your loved one out of jail, along with potentially having to pay the full amount of the bond should the defendant skip court or jump bond. The amount you will pay for the bail bond is a small percentage of what is actually "put up" with the sheriff to secure your loved ones release from jail.
