Ok, here's my opinion. These Dance Dance Revolution metal pads are currently the most durable dance pads that you'd find in the market, period. Combined metal with plastic, these Dance Dance Revolution metal pads have rubber stoppers all over the bottom part so you can be darn sure that these pads won't be slipping all around your floor like the usual mats. Not to mention that the rubbers below will soak up most of the impact (from you dancing on it!) from cracking the metal. I've personally stomped on the Dance Dance Revolution metal pad (with shoes on!!) for some time now and surprisingly there wasn't any signs of damage.. I honestly can't see these pads breaking under any sort of normal conditions simply because they're reinforced in almost every way.

Sensitivity:
If you're like me, who enjoys playing Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) or similar kinds of games in the arcade places, I'd say that - Dance Dance Revolution metal pad will give you the closest feel and sensitivity, as if you were playing in an arcade (although, there's still a lil' difference..), than any other dance pad you'll see in a market. Once you got over the fear of cracking the metal (happens to everyone that's new to such metal pads) you can basically play the highest level songs that you want, that's if your dancing skill can catch up.. :>

Yeah, since I've tried most of the dance pads on most game consoles (Xbox, PS2, PS3, Gamecube) out there now, I've much to say about their qualities, good or bad, especially for Dance Dance Revolution Metal Pads. I'm going to be really honest on this so listen up..

I had to tighten the screws as soon as I brought the Dance Dance Revolution metal pad home, but I suppose that's normal., I mean, it's not really a big deal to make get a screw driver for a quick fix-up. The pad works fantastically; however the back arrow button does feels a little weak but hasn't broken. I have beaten most of my high scores already and can play on Heavy Mode now with ease. Amazing stuff.

The only bad thing about this pad is that the arrows crack pretty easily, and they're sort of expensive... about $12 each -- but I'm a pretty aggressive Dance Dance Revolution player, I play on heavy and challenge and I stomp pretty hard, so it might work better for someone more gentle.

But still, all in all, after making extensive comparisons with the other Dance Dance Revolution pads out there, Dance Dance Revolution metal pads seem to be making much sense in terms of long-term investment for me, you can check it out right here!

This pad is terrific. It feels just like the arcade pads. I recommend that you wear shoes when you're using this pad because you get a lot more stability when you have the grip. The pad doesn't move that much either it only moves slightly on fast songs. Also the buttons look really cool because they light up whenever you hit a button.

The only bad thing about this pad is that it takes a little while for it to break in. Right when you get it sometimes the buttons don't register, but after a few days of playing with it it is really fun.

This is the biggest problems most beginners (even some pros) have - Footing.

While looking at others play the game, seeing them step perfectly with the arrow combinations, you might think it's easy for a first timer. Wrong. Just like getting on beat, this is one part of DDR you must get down. Don't worry, you wont be doing this your entire DDR playtime, because after much practice, you'll find yourself hitting all the arrows without even thinking about it.

First, the best songs to learn footing with are mainly ones under 100 BPM (except Bag, which is a wee bit too slow). In addition, some more upbeat songs like B4U can prepare you for the bulk of Dance Dance Revolution songs that share the same/similar BPM count. You should try to avoid faster songs like Paranoia, Exotic Ethnic, and End of the Century. Getting used to these songs can take a bit more time. You have to crawl before you can walk, so take it slow and easy. We all had to do that, and look where it got us.

The best way to understand your footing is to NOT concentrate on the arrows on the top of the screen, but concentrate on where the approaching arrow is pointing. If you are concentrating on the top arrows, you'll be prone to messing up, because you have a split second to step, you won't be concentrating on the approaching steps, and you'll just end up confusing yourself. Paying attention to what's coming instead of what's there is vital. Many beginners make this mistake. On the machine, it says to step once the arrows hit the top, but don't take that literally. Sure, hit them when they get to the top, but don't concentrate solely on the top. Believe me, it helps.

Another thing to know is not to try to progress quicker than you already are. Master something before you move onto your next objective, or problems may arise. That can really mess you up, and will require "backtracking", whereas you must stop and go back a few steps. Take everything one at a time, and you'll be good. You can so something else unless you do what's before it. This is the best way to go.

And remember, practice, practice, practice!!!
