Dance Moms Reality Show

Lifetime's Dance Moms reality show continues to reach new heights of bad behavior amid screaming moms and competitive dance with the end-of-season ride into the sunset by none other than Abbey Lee Miller.

In the best of showtime drama crafting, the evil Cathy Nesbitt-Stein, Candy Apple Dance Studio's owner, has somehow managed to make Sleeping Beauty's evil queen come off as a saint. It's rather stunning if you think about it. Abbey Lee Miller, Queen of Dance Drama, is almost sympathetic.

The Birth of Dance Moms
Lifetime's entry into the roiling sea of reality shows came in the wake of TLC's chum-churning Toddlers & Tiaras and continues to capture a growing audience.. For fans of Toddlers & Tiaras and their dysfunctional moms, the dance moms and their shenanigans put T&T to shame. We can only wonder how the new Dance Moms franchise, Miami Dance Moms will fare in the mama drama department.

Why do I watch Dance Moms?
Why does a reasonably smart, I hope, person like myself visit this sort of macabre behavior on a weekly basis? I don't know. Maybe it's part of that whole there-but-for-the-grace-of-God mentality.

I spent nine years in dance schools in the US and in Germany and finally hung up my slippers at the ripe old age of twelve. I suffered through the constant practice sessions, the dress rehearsals, and the famed end-of-year recitals. But the only claim to fame I'm left with is that I attended dance class with the then president's granddaughter.

I don't remember anything remotely like what goes on with these girls and their moms--and thankful I am. Who are these people?
