Over the last two years, I've become a proponent of raw milk. Raw cow's milk is my personal recommendation, but even raw goat's milk has merit. What's so good about raw milk? Because it's not homogenized or pasteurized, it's nutritionally superior to dead, cooked milk. Raw milk seems to be far easier to digest, and it contains living bacteria cultures that enhance digestion and even soothe the digestive tract.

It's no surprise, then, that raw milk is under attack by both federal regulators and some members of the processed milk industry. They don't want people to find a "superior" milk that isn't as profitable to sell (because it has reduced shelf life), so they're trying to destroy the raw milk market and limit consumer choice to processed, dead milk. (The same is true in the almond industry, where the Almond Board of California is now trying to irradiate all almonds grown in the state, yet have them labeled as "raw" even when they're dead.)

This attack on raw milk is dressed up to look like a public safety concern. Raw milk is dangerous, regulators claim, because the live cultures might get contaminated with unfriendly bacteria and harm someone. The preferred alternative, it seems, is to kill all the food so that it harms everyone equally.

If you buy your raw milk products from a reputable dairy that is clean and sanitary, then you are truly getting a superior food product with mega health benefits! I buy my milk on a weekly basis from a farm in Worthington, Pa. I know the farmer personally and watch her fill my glass containers right from her stainless steel milk trough in her milk house. The milk is delicious, and I have seen a change in my hair and skin!

Tip:

Remember to maximize your image sizes when designing for print, or cafepress. Here's how I do it: (Photoshop CS3)
Create your image in photoshop and then go to image>image size and click on the "auto" button. The number of pixels in your image will increase, but the actual size of the design will remain the same.
So..you have increased your resolution. You will see the number of pixels in your design displayed in
the box on the top left of the image size box.
This is very easy to do, but I have not found it explained this way anywhere to date.

When your image returns to your workspace, it will look huge, and probably will not fit on your screen.
No problem! Just hit alt and your magnification icon to bring the image down to a workable size.
You can still do your editing.

To save the image for cafepress...go to save > save for web and devices and save it there. At the bottom left corner of the screen, click on fit on screen to view your complete image...otherwise it may be too large to get a complete view.

I save my files as png24. Hope this is helpful to someone along the photoshop and cafepress highway!

A fresh, new design for dance t-shirts using the neon glow text effect in photoshop.

Here's how I did it! (Photoshop CS3)
1. Open a new document in photoshop and fill layer 1
with white.

2. Add a new layer and type your text in black with a bold font....arial black.

3. Rasterize your type (right click on layer 2 and select rasterize type)

4. Go to layer-merge-down
Then go to filter-gaussian blur using a radius of 5.2 pixels. Select the magic wand tool and click inside each of your text characters to highlight them.

6. Add a new layer and select a bright pink foreground color. Go to edit-stroke and select a stroke of 10 pixels, choosing center for the location. Turn off your black and white layer, or drag it to the trash bin.

7. Add a new layer and use the marquee tool to add a border around your text. Choose a bright orange color for the foreground color and: edit>stroke>10 pixels, center.

8. Use the eraser tool to create small breaks in each of the text letters and the border to simulate the look of neon.

9. Control click on the neon letters layer in your thumbnail in the layers list to select it. Than:
Select>Modify>Contract..use the value of 2 pixels.

10. Add a new layer and name it highlights. Use the paint bucket to fill the highlighted area with white. Blur this using Filter>Gaussian>Blur. Set this layer's blending mode to screen, 85% opacity.

11. Add a layer below the text layer and select the area inside the orange outline with the retangular marquee tool. Fill this area with black. You should now have the pink text sitting on a black background.
12. Repeat steps 9 and 10 on the orange border layer.

13. To create the glowing look of neon, click your text lettering layer and duplicate it. (right click>duplicate layer) Blur the duplicated layer with Filter>Gaussian Blur and set the value to 13.7 % or whatever looks good to you.
Set the duplicate layer's blending mode to screen>85%. Duplicate the layer as many times as you want. This will increase the glow.

14. Repeat the above steps with your orange outline layer.

15. Hope this works for ya! I had fun experimenting with it.

Some things to consider when choosing a dance studio:

This website KidsDanceClasses.com was created for parents who are looking for a positive and fun filled creative activity for their children. Dance Classes are fun when they are taught by a qualified instructor in a professional studio environment.

If you are planning to enroll your child in dance activities or dance classes, there are several things you need to take into consideration.

Does your dance studio put a limitation on the size of the class? Small class sizes mean faster learning and more fun! Classes that are less expensive often mean you will find too many students in the classroom and chaos can prevail! We feel the class size for young students ages 3-8 years old should be limited to between 8-10 students.

Another point to consider is whether or not there is adult supervision in the waiting areas at all times. This should be a receptionist or customer service representative who is available to answer the phone, answer questions and supervise young students in the waiting area.

Dance studio personnel should also be available to answer the phone on a regular basis. We so often hear about studios that have no voice mail available and never bother to return phone calls. At our Dance & Gym USA studios in western Pennsylvania, we forward the phones after hours so we are available to assist our customers even when our studios are closed.

Does your studio have an up to date and informative website that displays the information you need to know....like calendars, recital dates, class times and current announcements? While this element is not critical, it does prove to be beneficial to parents whose lives are so busy these days. With an up to date website, studio information is available at your fingertips.

What type of flooring is used in the dance studio? Concrete or tile over concrete is never an acceptable option, as it can create shock type muscle strains or injuries during movement exercises. Look for a floating, suspended or cushioned dance surface.

Have the instructors passed a background check and are they experienced and certified teachers?

Does the studio teach with a postive approach and are all students encouraged to learn within their own unique abilities and levels of achievement? Are the classes fun for the kids?

If you have to drag your child to class every week, something is wrong with the way the classes are being taught. You may want to explore other studios in your area.

Learning the arts should be fun and inspirational.

Class content should be designed for the maturity level of the students. In other words, dance classes should be designed in an age appropriate manner.

Recital costumes must also be age appropriate and never suggestive or provocative. Take this into consideration before you enroll your child in a studio program. You may want to take a look at the studio's recital photo album, or view a dvd of the recital performance. You want your child to have a positive experience that will provide a lifetime of great memories!
