Timmy Time Sing & Dance Timmy Review

Sing and Dance Timmy is a 37cm tall super-cute incarnation of everyone's favourite lamb. He has a soft and woolly outer surface with a hard mechanical core, and comes dressed in trademark Timmy baseball cap, trainers and medallion!

Press Timmy's hand to start him off - after a couple of charismatic 'baaa's" he's off, dancing and singing! Timmy waggles from side to side, arms moving in rhythm, and medallion swinging, as he performs to two routines. One is a dance to a funky beat, while the other is a dance to a more country-style tune (based along the lines of the music from the Timmy Time show) with Timmy singing, or "baaa-ing" his way through the song. His friends Ruffy, Mittens and Otis also join in with woofs, meows and hoots. And as if that wasn't enough, those super cute big eyes blink from time to time, too!

Timmy's hard shoes allow him to stand solidly on a flat surface and he features an on/off switch underneath one foot. Timmy is great for encouraging your toddler to dance along with him, and of course makes a wonderful fun companion for Timmy fanatics.

Timmy is for toddlers aged 2 years and over. However, he was bought as a present for my daughter's first birthday, and she absolutely adored him (and still does, now she is over 2). I feel that Timmy is absolutely fine for this age provided your child is supervised with the toy at all times.

Timmy requires 4 AA batteries.

Dancing Timmy is a fun toy with entertainment value rather than educational, but he does of course encourage movement and dance. Here are my positives and negatives about the toy:

Dancing Timmy Pros

* Timmy is great fun and really entertaining. He cannot fail to make you smile as he waggles from side to side and baaaa's along to the tune!

* Timmy encourages dance and movement. My daughter received him for her first birthday, and straight away began bouncing and "dancing" in her sitting position. Within a week she was trying to copy his style of dance by moving her hips from side to side! Now she is 2, she loves to press his hand and then join in with his dance.

* Timmy doesn't just move from side to side - that would be boring! His arms move too, and he blinks throughout the dance. And check out that hip wiggle!

* Timmy will still make a great toy as your child grows older, because he is entertaining for all ages

* He is excellent value for money

* Volume is just right - loud enough, but not too loud

* Arms are poseable

* Features an on/off switch to save batteries/adult ears!

* Timmy is very robust. Even when grabbed in mid-dance, despite making grinding noises and even sometimes suffering his arm popping out of its socket (which pops back in no problem) the toy survives every time!

Dancing Timmy Cons

* He only has two songs - a couple more would have been good

* He may get a little annoying for adults - I personally love him but he was driving my sister-in-law nuts after ten minutes! But then, that's kids toys for you, right?

* He has quite a complex mechanism/movement, so if your little one grabs an arm or he gets stuck against something then everything starts grinding and groaning. However, it never breaks! Sometimes if she grabs him too hard his arm pops out of its socket, which stops him from dancing, but it pops back in again extremely easily.

* Limited play until toddler is old enough to pick him up and play with him as well as watch him

* Takes a whopping 4 batteries and is quite battery-thirsty, but that said, most kids toys are these days!!

Overall, I think Sing and Dance Timmy is great value for money and an ideal purchase for a child who loves Timmy Time. Very clever and fun toy and especially good if your little one adores dance and music, like mine! We have several Timmy toys and this is easily the one that gets played with the most.
