The Biggest Dancing with the Stars Yet!

Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson have won Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars.

Mya & Dmitry Chaplin were second, Kelly Osbourne & Louis van Amstel third.

Yesterday there were two individual dances from Kelly & Louis, Donny & Kym and Mya & Dmitry plus the "megamix" (a group dance).

Here are the scores of the couples in week 10 of Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars:

* "megamix" score

These scores represent the following share of the judges' votes:

  • Donny 34.3%
  • Mya 35.1%
  • Kelly 30.6%

These were combined with the viewers votes to find the winner.  Donny made up a 0.8 percentage point gap to ultimately win.

Was Donny the best dancer? No.  The best entertainer? Probably.  A nice guy? Absolutely!

Congratulations Donny.

The Winners of Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars - Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson

I'll leave out the first hour and 52 minutes, suffice it to say it had lots of little segments, some of which were quite good, and some were cringe-worthy.

After Tom Bergeron announce that Kelly was third, he then hung on for another five minutes (it seemed like hours) to say that Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson were the winners of the mirror-ball trophy in season 9 of Dancing with the Stars.

Donny was not the best dancer but he a) obviously had the fan base and b) brought it on when it counted. Getting his first 30 in the final and dancing at his best. Mya was a beautiful dancer, technically excellant but just couldn't get the votes to beat an American institution - Osmond Nation.

I'm glad for Kym Johnson who has had her share of bad dancers, and was obviously over the moon when she won.

Congratulations Donny and Kym.

And the 'Dancing With the Stars' winner is ... - Dancing With the Stars

The Finale - The Dances

The showman, the reality star and the dancer. Who will win the biggest dancing reality show of them all? It might not be the dancer...

Each couple had two individual dances and the "megamix". The "megamix" was a group routine where each had (more or less) the same steps. The final dance was freestyle.

Mya scored 30s in the paso doble and the group dance but only 27 in the freestyle. Shock!

Kelly didn't raise her game but she danced well. 26,26 and 24 were her scores.

Donny was competent in his cha cha, came second in the group dance and scored a perfect 30 in the freestyle - showing us he really is an entertainer.

Here is a summary of the scores:

Donny Osmond & Kym Johnson - 27 & 28* & 30 = 85
Mya & Dmitry Chaplin - 30 & 30* & 27 = 87
Kelly Osbourne & Louis Van Amstel - 26 & 26* & 24 = 76
* "megamix"

These mean that Donny needs 0.8 percentage points more than Mya in the viewer vote to win (assuming Kelly will be placed third).

It comes down to the best dancer versus the most popular star...

Mya? Donny? Kelly? Who will win 'Dancing'?

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas are Champions of Season 8!

Shawn-Johnson-and-Ma-437994b2ab3b

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas win Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars!

Congratulations to Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas for winning Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars!

The Season Finale results Show was two hours in length and demonstrated that the viewers did pretty well in who they DIDN'T let into the final. Other than (perhaps) Lil' Kim, none of the others had a chance of winning!

A trawl through highlights of the season, repeat dances by each of the celebrities, a very uncomfortable roast by Jeffrey Ross (that sort of thing doesn't really fit in with this show, a number of my Twitter friends were quite upset!) and we had the final three dances.

Each of the couples performed their favorite routines and each scored 30 points. No surprise there, but it does show that the judges are content to allow the viewers to choose the winner.

Melissa was the first to go and then there were two. Shawn kept her eyes tight shut, while Gilles had his actor's face on.

And Shawn was the winner!

One of the favorites from the start, Shawn was never perfect until it counted on Monday night. Competent throughout, her struggle was showing her emotions and feelings through dance rather than learning the steps. A very deserving champion!

This was a very satisfying season.

Bring on Season 9!

How to Get Eliminated from Dancing With The Stars

A description of the scoring system from ABC.com

Each week every couple receives points from the judges and votes from the public. For every couple we work out the share they got of the points given by the judges on the night, and the share they got of the public's votes on the night and we add these two shares together. The couple with the lowest combined total is eliminated from the show.

You can vote either by phone, text (if you are an AT&T subscriber, or on the web at ABC.com. Details of the phone numbers and a more detailed explanation of the scoring system can be found here.

For example if couples A, B and C receive 38, 26 and 14 points from the judges, we calculate what share these points represent of the total awarded by the judges on the night. In this case the judges gave 78 points in total, and each couples' share of 78 points breaks down as follows: 38= 48.72% of 78, 26= 33.33% of 78, 14= 17.95% of 78. Let's suppose that when the public votes are tallied, each couple has the following shares: A= 20%, B=40%, C=40%. To determine who's eliminated we combine these two shares for the total:

Couple A: 20+48.72%= 68.72%
Couple B: 40+33.33%= 73.33%
Couple C: 40+17.95%= 57.95%

In this case, the bottom two couples would be A and C, and C would be eliminated.

The Hosts

Tom Bergeron

Emmy Award winning host Tom Bergeron began his broadcasting career in 1972 in his hometown of Haverhill, MA. Despite ample evidence that Bergeron was 17 at the time, he now insists there has been a terrible mistake.

"Must be some other guy," Bergeron declared. "I'm only 35." After a grimace from his manager, Bergeron continued. "No, wait, 33. Yeah, that's it. I'm prematurely gray!"

Bergeron spent over a decade with WBZ TV in Boston, hosting a number of popular shows. According to his revised math, he apparently did this while also attending grade school.

In 1994 he became host of Breakfast Time on fX. This was before the cable channel was successful enough to afford the upper case F they now use. The show morphed into Fox After Breakfast and moved to the FOX network, where the use of all upper case letters offered little consolation. The show was canceled after one season.

Deftly dodging unemployment, Bergeron became fill in anchor on Good Morning America in 1997, a position he held until segueing to Hollywood Squares in 1998. At this point, Edward R. Murrow could be heard spinning in his grave.

While hosting Hollywood Squares, Bergeron multi tasked his way into a fill in anchor gig on CBS' The Early Show (more spinning) and also began hosting ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos. At present NBC still won't return his calls.

Dancing with the Stars in Wikipedia

Category: File - :Dancing With the stars world map3.png|300px|right|thumb|International versions of Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars is the name of a group of international television series based on the format of the British TV series Strictly Come Dancing, which is distributed by BBC Worldwide - the commercial arm of the BBC. Currently the format has been licensed to more than 30 countries, Australia was the first country to adapt the BBC show, and versions have also been produced in the United States with Dancing with the Stars, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Croatia, The Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, and Ukraine. As a result, this contest became the world's most popular television program among all genres in 2006 and 2007, according to the magazine Television Business International, reaching the Top 10 in 17 countries.

The show pairs a number of celebrities with professional ballroom dancers, who each week compete by performing dances. These are then given scores by a panel of judges. Viewers are given a certain amount of time to place votes on their favorite dancers, either by telephone or (in some countries) by the Internet. The couple with the lowest combined score (judges plus viewers) is eliminated, and continue in the next week. This process continues until there are only two or three couples left, at which point one couple is declared the champion.

I am the biggest fan of Dancing with the stars, haven't missed a season, I think that Dancing with the stars should have one person not Star, a normal fan who always wanted to dance. You show would make them feel like a Star. Only one, that way us veiwers are not stars, it won't make us feel like less than. I love to Dance and I bet alot of people would love a chance like that, I would give anything to dance with a professional dancer, the is my real dream and passion, that I doubt will ever happen to me!
