Season 6 - From Start to Finish

Well, we had five actors, three sports people (if you call figure skating a sport!), one comedian, one comedic magician, one singer and a Priscilla Presley. I couldn't categorize her!

There were certainly some moments in season 6 - man-on-man tangos, unicycles, injuries and more.

Quote of the night: Bruno to Adam Carolla "You were like a cross between Will Ferrell and John Cleese".

In my opinion Adam Carolla was more like Lurch.

Well, the first night showed that Adam Carolla and Penn Jillette won't last long, that Steve Guttenberg really enjoys life, than Cristian needs to move more than his hips, that football players are good dancers and that Mario must now be the favorite.

Mario dominates "macho Monday" on "Dancing".

There was no quote of the night really, just to note how nice the judges were when they prepared Monica Seles for a bad score (AND they were generous). She can't dance - but that's OK.

Kristi Yamaguchi firmly staked her claim to being one of the favorites. It will be interesting to see how she does at the Latin dances. Priscilla Presley displayed some impressive footwork and some very good choreography showed her at her best. It's whether she will improve is the question. Other than Kristi, it's hard to see a female winner this season.

Week 2

A mixed bag this week - some did much better (Shannon, Marissa, Jason), some were just as bad (Monica, Adam, Penn, Steve), some were about the same (Mario, Kristi, Marlee, Priscilla) and some couldn't catch a break (Cristian). There was no quote of the night, but Penn Teller breaking the bar in the practice room by leaning on it was pretty funny.

Here are the judges scores from last week and from this for each contestant. Remember, the judges scores count as half the total score, and one lady and one man will go home this week.

Week 2 Results

Well not much of a shock here.

Monica has been put out of her misery. There is not doubt she tried really hard, but she just isn't a dancer (looks good in that dress though).

Penn Jillette was the other celebrity to be voted off. Last in the judges scores, the public agreed that his huge feet are a huge flop when it comes to dancing.

In our poll we had Monica Seles as the celebrity to be voted off first, with Penn and Adam tied for second. Well done Squidoo! Don't forget to vote for who will be voted off in Week 3!

Week 3

A strange week with a marked improvement by Adam and a poor performance by Mario (he had a busy week).

Cristian also did much better, getting both halves of his body more in sync.

Even though Kristi scored the highest marks Priscilla's performance was the highlight of the night.

Lowlight: "Bitterly disappointed" - Len Goodman on Mario's performance.

Week 3 Results

The contestant who was first in our poll (to be voted off) was Adam and he was one of the first to be told he was safe. The second was Marissa and she was safe.

Our third was Steve Guttenberg and he was the one voted off. His improvement this week was not enough to convince the public.

Week 4

The night saw the establishment of Kristi as the one to beat and the emergence of Jason and Shannon as serious contenders. The rest of the field turned in sold performances but are starting to have the look of also-rans. The exception, of course, was Adam, who relied on high jinx rather than dancing ability (not a bad strategy when you can't dance!)

Quote of the night - "Blub, blub, blub...". Carrie-Ann, who was over come with emotion after Marlee and Fabian's dance. She still only gave them an eight though!

Week 4 Results

As overwhelmingly predicted by our poll, Adam Carolla was voted off in week 4 of Dancing with the Stars.

Despite ringing a unicycle and wearing a fake mustache, his efforts came to naught.

He did have fun, and had some uplifting things to say in terms of doing things that scare you. Like watching him dance...that scares me!

Week 5

Kristi once again showed she was the one to beat getting a 29. Mario made a great comeback and Jason continued his consistency.

Shannon went back to her "normal" scores.

Priscilla looks the most in danger but it's up to the public as well. She needs to get 5% more votes than Marlee or 10% more than Cristian.

Week 5 Results

Priscilla Presley has been voted off. She has done amazingly well, I think, and has shown a lot of poise and grace. Add the age thing and it's really amazing. Plus she has learned that there is actually a demand for a Priscilla Presley Psychic Hotline (from the April fools segment) - that should keep her in a manner she has become accustomed to!

We actually had Marissa as the next one to be voted off.

Cristian was also in the bottom two which meant that (because of the way the scoring works) Marlee had at least 5% more viewer votes than him.

Week 6

Well, the first 30 of the season goes to....Kristi Yamaguchi! Plus, she didn't have to bribe any judges!

Everyone stepped up their game this week and the judges marked harder accordingly. Marlee looks the most at risk although the publics vote is still to come. She got over 5% more of the viewers' votes than Cristian last week so she does have a fan base out there, whether it's enough we shall see! She needs to get 10% more public votes than Jason or Shannon to be safe.

Quote of the night - "I'll show my bum in the supermarket" - Len Goodman threatened if Cristian was in the bottom two.

Week 6 Results

Marlee Matlin is the latest star to be voted off Dancing with the Stars. She has been inspirational, looks fantastic, and dances really well. (By the way we had Cristian going, we were totally off!)

On another point, Mario was the other star in the bottom 2. That means that both Jason and Shannon got over 16% more viewers votes than he did. This either means he has a small fan base or they just didn't turn out for him. We'll see!

Week 7

This week the celebrities were scored on two dances. Jason was clearly the winner on the night (I loved his quickstep) - perhaps because he didn't get traded over the weekend? The first round was a bit of a shock because at the end of it two of the favorites, Kristi and Mario, were the bottom two. Could she be beaten?

The came the second round. Cristian had his best dance yet in the first dance but hurt his arm in the second. He got a severe shoulder cramp in the second dance, and actually ended up in hospital. The judges seemed to give him 7s out of pity. He needs to get over 11% more viewer votes than Shannon or Mario. Having said all that, he did actually get a lot more viewer votes than Mario last week - so it'll be interesting to see!

Week 7 Results

Shannon Elizabeth was voted off Dancing with the Stars as our poll predicted.

In a week where her rumored affair with partner Derek Hough was talked about more and more, she gets to spend some non-dancing time with him (if she wants). Although a little inconsistent, she did have some bright spots - and I though her hips were fine!!

Marissa and Tony were the other couple in the bottom two.

Week 8

Cristian straight-arms Jason!

Kristi was second for the second week running but it wasn't Jason who stole top spot, it was our injured actor!

Cristian went from last to first - mainly due to the choreography of Cheryl Burke. Yes, he did marvelously well to dance with an injured arm, but it was Cheryl's choreography that spared his arm, and you couldn't tell he had an injury!

Len was in a very grumpy mood, and continued his haranging of Mario - he doesn't seem to like him.

Marissa is favorite in our poll to go home - she needs 4% more viewer votes than Jason, 6% more than Mario or 10% more than Kristi.

Week 8 Results

Totally contrary to our poll (we had Marissa leaving), Mario was voted off in week 8. I was impressed with the way he started the competition, but he didn't seem to improve as much as some of the other contestants; plus Len seemed to have a big downer on him. He seems like a nice young man and I'm sure he will do very well for himself - he sure can sing!

Next week is the semi-final of Dancing with the Stars - don't forget to watch and vote!

Week 9

Everyone seemed to get back on track last night - Kristi was the best, Marissa the worst and the boys filled the middle. However, I don't think the scores reflected the performances of the dancers and I think the viewer vote will have a huge influence here.

Marissa scored 52 and Kristi 57. That's less than 10% difference, so if Marissa gets (say) 25% of the viewer vote and Kristi 22%, Marissa would be ahead of Kristi. This just highlights how close it is and don't be surprised if there is a surprise!

Week 9 Results

Well the viewers agreed with the judges and voted Marissa Jaret Winokur off of Dancing with the Stars. Marissa is fun, bubbly and really loud and was thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

The finalists are Kristi Yamaguchi, Cristian de la Fuente and Jason Taylor.

The Final

There is a "face off" dance this time (dancing together) plus a "regular" dance.

Kristi dominated the face off, getting a perfect score and leaving the others behind.

Jason didn't fair so well in the group dance, but redeemed himself in the freestyle. However he will have to get 20$ more viewer votes than Kristi - a tall order!

Cristian was between the two in the group dance and his score was third for the freestyle.

Kristi looks like the winner, if there is an upset, it will be Cristian. Shame - because I wanted Jason to win!
