Vitamin D Benefits

Vitamin D health is so important that if Vitamin D levels get too low Vitamin D supplementation is a must!

Vitamin D assists calcium for bone growth, maintenance and remodeling and also plays an important role in the maintenance of organ systems that maintain immune system health.

If Vitamin D levels get too low, or if you have a Vitamin D deficiency, it can result in impaired bone mineralization.

Vitamin D Sunlight Exposure

Vitamin D levels increase when the skin reacts with sunlight.

In order to get adequate amounts of vitamin D sunlight exposure need not be more than ten to fifteen minutes.

For extra amounts of vitamin sunlight exposure can be longer, but eventually equilibrium is achieved.

It's hard to get too much vitamin D benefits because they are diminished as the vitamin D begins to degrade as fast as it is generated.

Vitamin D Sources From Food

Good vitamin D sources from food include; fish, beef, and eggs.

Other vitamin D sources from food include those that are "fortified" such as milk, yogurt, margarine, oil spreads, breakfast cereals, pastries, and bread.

For the lactose intolerant, or those lacking proper vitamin D nutrition, vitamin D supplementation is often recommended.

Vitamin D 50000 iu supplementation is not uncommon, but the average persons vitamin D levels should be around 50 ng/ml year round.
