We Honor His Memory

Daniel Faulkner loved being a police officer and planned on a lifelong career in law enforcement. He was working toward his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, with a long-term goal of attending law school so he could one day join the District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor. Family was important to Daniel, the youngest of seven children in a close-knit Irish-Catholic family from Philadelphia. Daniel and his wife Maureen were married in the fall of 1979, and owned a home in south Philadelphia near their friends and families. At just 25-years of age, the future seemed promising to Daniel and his young wife. On December 9, 1981, those hopes and dreams were destroyed when Officer Daniel Faulkner was murdered in cold blood on a Philadelphia street corner during a routine traffic stop. His killer? Poster child for wrongful imprisonment—Mumia Abu-Jamal.

This is a harrowing book, told with uncommon grace and dignity. Maureen Faulkner is an incredible woman. The story she tells, of being denied for more than a quarter century the dignity of burying her police officer husband in peace, is even more incredible.
Buzz Bissinger - Author of Friday Night Lights

The Bible teaches that the truth will set us free, but Michael Smerconish and Maureen Faulkner teach us that even a powerful truth needs courage as its ally.
Chris Matthews - Host of Hardball with Chris Matthews and The Chris Matthews Show

Maureen Faulkner is a genuine American heroine. While influential people garner cheap headlines with stories of false injustice, Maureen Faulkner fights behind the scenes and in public to preserve the good name of her husband. This is a real justice story!
John Timoney, Miami Chief of Police
