I didn't know anything about FASCAR. That's one cool car, though.
  • ShawnsBidness Nov 28, 2008 @ 8:32 pm | delete
I didn't know anything about Fascar. I have got to show this to my husband who is a Nascar fan. Great lens!
  • Samantha Nov 28, 2008 @ 7:33 pm | delete
That is cool! Mom has lived in Daytona for 20 some years and never heard of FASCAR!! But NASCAR we know!! Thanks for introducing us to Daniel Keene Jr. We will keep our eyes on him! We hope the economy doesn't hurt him next year!!
    Your FL furiends,

Nice lens... good luck Daniel! Not much into racing myself.
  • Linda Nov 27, 2008 @ 11:09 am | in reply to valmg | delete
I hope he won't be affected by the economy but that seems to be the trend right now. Hopefully, he'll pick up a full time sponsor to get him through the next season.
  • valmg Nov 27, 2008 @ 12:08 am | delete
The name sounds familiar. I wonder how he'll be effected by the problems companies are facing coming up with sponsorship money.
  • lakeerieartists Nov 26, 2008 @ 3:49 pm | delete
Very interesting. Not my sport of choice but great lens.

Maureen, I agree, Daria did a great job on this lense. What kind of racing did your father do?
  • Maureen Nov 25, 2008 @ 5:36 pm | delete
Cool lens. My dad used to race cars on the weekends when I was a kid, so I have always liked racing. He built his racecar- do you believe it? I wish continued luck to Daniel Keene Jr.
  • daria369 Nov 25, 2008 @ 3:44 pm | in reply to Scott | delete
To tell you the truth - it's only been a little over a month since I've seen the inside of a stock car racing track - for the first time in my life (!) and my first race at Georgia's Watermelon Capital. The night was freezing cold and windy, the racing cars were loud and smelly.

But one thing is for sure - when I spot the master I know what I'm looking at and I can appreciate their virtue. Watching Daniel Keene Jr. passing one competitor after another with ease and elegance is a real pleasure. He is perfecting his driving technique at an astonishing rate from one race to another - and although I don't know much about car racing and its terminology (not to mention the flags!) is quite foreign to me - I'm really looking forward to see Daniel Jr. racing again!
  • daria369 Nov 25, 2008 @ 3:08 pm | in reply to Diane Scott | delete
Thank you Diane, it was fun because it doesn't happen every day that I stumble across a champion like Daniel Jr. ... :)
  • Scott Nov 25, 2008 @ 2:59 pm | delete
I really don't follow racing but you have done a great job on your this lens, and it looks like Daniel Keene Jr has accomplished quite a bit within the racing arena.

With seven wins and such a good reputation, it sounds like Keene has well-earned the award of Most Popular Super Late Model driver in the country. I voted too!
  • race_fan Nov 22, 2008 @ 8:32 am | in reply to James20 | delete
Dirt racing is a lot of fun to watch, especially the sprint cars. Daniel's dad actually raced at East Bay Raceway (a dirt track) here in the Tampa Bay Area in the late 70's.

    Let's help Daniel, Jr.

Speed51.com has an update on the MPD voting as of 11/19 and unfortunately, Daniel is still not back in the top five. Please pass on the link below and have everyone you know vote at least once if not once a day through December 15th. Winning this award (a complete ABC "Package A" body from Aluminum Racing Products Stock Car Bodies) would help Daniel tremendously.

    Thanks

This brings back memories when I was a child and I would go to the races with my friend. The place was a tri-oval dirt track.

I hope you will check out Daniel, Jr.'s schedule next racing season and possibly attend one of his races while visiting your brother in Florida. [in reply to BFuniv.com]
  • Linda Nov 21, 2008 @ 7:27 am | in reply to susannaduffy | delete
Good question! I had to make a call to find out. Daniel says he buys his 114 octane fuel in bulk for approximately $10 per gal right now. He uses Sunoco racing fuel. You can purchase fuel at the tracks also. Another option is to purchase 110 octane fuel at approximately $7.50 per gal.
  • susannaduffy Nov 20, 2008 @ 6:48 pm | delete
As I read through this I had only one question ...Where does he get the high-octane fuel from? And how much does it cost?
  • BFuniv.com Nov 19, 2008 @ 11:07 am | delete
It's been years since I've enjoyed live racing and my brother lives in Florida = another reason to go visit.

    Daniel is a Great Driver!

    Good racing season,
    Good Luck!

Daniel is an amazing Driver, Husband, and Father. I hope that he gets the oppurtunity that he deserves to carry on to next season and pray that he advances one day (soon) in a sport that he is excellent in and has such a drive and passion for. Unfourtunely, without sponsers this isn't possible, so if there is anyone out there that wants a great person to advertise their business he is the man for the job! :)

Daniel Keene, Jr. is an awsome driver!!! The 2008 season was his 1st full season and with the Championship, it was his best.

Watching him race now compared to last season is like night and day. He has become very patient and a well seasoned driver. He seems to sit back and wait for the right moves, accomplishing them with ease.

Because of the "economy", Daniel is looking for sponsorship for 2009. I believe he would be a great asset to any business for advertising. He's great on the radio, in interviews, and quite good looking. He'd be great in those jean commercials.

Excellent lens. I didn't know much about FASCAR. Very interesting. Thanks for lensrolling my Graduate I lesrolled to my Magnum / Ferrari lens too (www.squidoo.com/ferrari308gtsqv) Let's make traffic...

I love Nascar, in fact this morning I just qualified on a drawing to win a trip to the Daytona 500, on my favorite radio station here. Fascar sounds just as fun! Well done lens, sounds like a great driver! Linda
  • daria369 Nov 14, 2008 @ 11:13 am | in reply to Jewelsofawe | delete
Thank you very much for pointing that out! FASCAR is the same kind of car- racing association as NASCAR - but limited to the State of Florida.
  • Jewelsofawe Nov 14, 2008 @ 10:55 am | delete
I have never heard of him or fascar. I like nascar nextel cup racing though, so this does sound interesting
