Danny Elfman is one of todays most in-demand film composers, frequently working with director Tim Burton, for whom he's composed Batman, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He emerged from popular LA band Oingo Boingo whose hits include "Weird Science" and "Dead Man's Party". Danny has also written memorable opening themes for TV shows such as The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, and Tales from the Crypt.
Recently Danny Elfman's first symphonic work Serenada Schizophrana has been a success on the classical charts. His latest films include Charlotte's Web, the Disney/Pixar animated Meet the Robinsons, and The Kingdom produced by Michael Mann.

Spider-Man 3 - In spite of Danny quitting Spider-Man 2 and vowing to never work with Sam Raimi again, Spidey 3 producer Grant Curtis says "Danny and Chris Young are both working on the picture. We have yet to start actively working on the music." In July Raimi said "I haven't spoken with Danny but I am hoping that it will be Danny Elfman in conjunction with Chris Young."
The Sixth Element/Brave New Rosenberg - Directed by brother Richard Elfman.
Sweeney Todd - Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are adapting Steven Sondheim's musical, and maybe Elfman will join them yet again. (Sasha Baron Cohen (Borat) will also star.)

Nightmare Before Christmas 3D - The classic Tim Burton film with Danny Elfman's unforgettable songs is back in theatres for a special 3-D presentation!
Not the same old Bowl sh** - Commissioned by world-renouned conductor John Mauceri for his farewell concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on September 15, 16 and 17, Danny Elfman composed a new symphonic work The Overeager Overture.

Serenada Schizophrana CD (SACD)
Danny Elfman's Serenada Schizophrana is now available on Super Audio CD. This studio recording is conducted by John Mauceri. The SACD has distinct digital surround channels that can be heard on any SACD capable CD or DVD player, but will play in stereo in any CD player. For the first time, you can hear the music just like Danny Elfman hears it in person!Serenada Schizophrana was Danny's first work composed for a symphony, it was commissioned by the American Composer's Orchestra, and debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2005. The symphony is made of several distinct pieces and runs about 40 minutes long.

Little Demons
Around 1997 Danny Elfman wrote the songs and screenplay for a musical he would direct. The dark comedy Little Demons made it's way through a few studios including Disney, but was never filmed. These rare demos performed by Danny Elfman have been passed between fans over the years. Danny himself, who also sang the voice of Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas, sings a few tracks beginning with the opening song.
These demos once buried in tape hiss have been enhanced by Ghost Moth for this suite collecting the songs and music cues otherwise unedited. You can hear it in the audio player near the top of this page. Back to Audio Player

Forbidden Zone
A Note From Composer Danny Elfman:
When Rick first approached me about doing a musical score for his "no budget" film, Forbidden Zone I thought sure, fine, it'll be fun. Sixty minutes of original music in a dozen differing styles needed to be created in and around various older, and often uneven, pre-recorded pieces. But when he said that it must all be completed within a two week 'round-the-clock composing, arranging, and recording marathon, I thought he was crazy; but crazy is my middle name. I took on the challenge and enjoyed it immensely.
It was an interesting period for me Oingo Boingo was just leaving its theatrical stage and starting to play as a band. We had a chance to combine the older styles we used to play with some of the crazier sounds which were to be, (as well as a lot of musical pieces which were unlike anything we had ever played, old or new). It was a great chance to stretch out and go nuts.
The Boingos current fans may find this "film music" somewhat foreign to the styles they now associate with us. But nonetheless, it's a piece of historic musical schizophrenia for me, I'm proud of it, and hope you enjoy listening to it.
