...I'm Batman...
In the current movie series, Batman is portrayed by Christian Bale. The latest movie, titled THE DARK KNIGHT, opened in North America and parts of Europe on Friday July 18th and quickly broke box office records for midnight showings, single-day and opening weekend earnings. It's since gone on to break records for the pace at which is has earned $100, $200, $300 and $400 million dollars. It is now the 2nd highest grossing film in North American of all time (sandwiched between STAR WARS and TITANIC).
On Sunday August 31st, THE DARK KNIGHT hit the $500 million mark, becoming only the second movie ever to reach that total domestically. And it reached that earning level in only six weeks, whereas Titantic took three months.

The Latest "Dark Knight" News!
the summer blockbuster of 2008
With director Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins) at the helm, this is the second outing for actor Christian Bale as Batman. This time he faces off against a radically-dark Joker, played by Heath Ledger. We will also get to see how District Attorney Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face, as portrayed by Aaron Eckhart.
On February 22, 2009, Heath Ledger was awarded the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as the Joker, only the second time in Academy Award history that an award was given to an actor posthumously. His father, mother and sister accepted and the statue will ultimately go to his daughter Matilda when she turns 18.

How Batman Really Began...
from comic book to movie franchise
Batman, originally referred to as "the Bat-Man" and still referred to at times as "the Batman", is a fictional character, a comic book superhero co-created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger (although only Kane receives official credit), appearing in publications by DC Comics. The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.
He is additionally known as "the Caped Crusader", "the Dark Knight", "'the Worlds Greatest Detective", or simply "the Bat'"; in the original version of the story and the vast majority of subsequent retellings, Batmans secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire playboy, industrialist, and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on crime, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice. Bruce trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crim...

- I've always been a bigger fan of Marvel than DC, but some of the Batman movies are way cool. Dark Knight is one of the best--Ledger's Joker is too creepy for words....
