Who needs entertainment? 

I'm bored, dance monkey...dance!

I don't know about you, but I'm inundated with entertainment news, celebrity gossip and America's obsession with the celebs. But why is this happening? Are we so bored with our lives that we need to live vicariously through someone else's? Maybe, but I think people love to know secrets, love to aspire to be rich and famous and more importantly just plain 'ol love to be entertained.

Entertainment is paramount in our lives today as we are a nation of abundance, over-spending, over-consumption and looking for purpose. That's why I feel that the next generation of websites are going to be more than just functionality, but much more about entertainment. But what about web 2.0? Guess what? Sharing things with friends is entertainment is it not? Seeing their comments, sharing ideas, exhanging dialogue? Entertainment is not a one-way street after all.

I can see the future (I can't actually, but I can predict can't I?) and it contains the most successful websites that are built around entertainment. Stay tuned, I just may have something for you...
