Darth Vader

Darth Vader is perhaps the cinematic definition of ambivalence. Oh, there's no denying that he's evil, of course. From the moment we saw him, back in 1977, strangling that poor rebel captain with his bare hands at the beginning of Star Wars, we knew he was evil. And yet, there was something... appealing about him. Decades later we found out that inside that suit were the remains of a hurt little boy, and as we watched his journey from possibly the greated hero in the galaxy to the very symbol of evil, we realized that it doesn't take much to stray from the path.

Perhaps that's what draws people to him.
