Preventing computer data loss

How to prevent or what to do when disaster strikes

There is nothing more frustrating than losing the important documents or data that you've spent so much time creating. I have suffered such loss quite a few times and I know how it feels.

The best way to prevent data loss to happen is to be prepared for it. Here is some tips.

1. Don't store your important documents only on the Hard drive. Start keeping scheduled backups of your important files in a separate storage media CD, DVD or external Hard drive.

2. Keep your computer clean from Viruses
Email is a great way for people to communicate but its also a great way to spread viruses. Email attachements are not always what they seem. Lots of fake pictures - .exe files pretendending to be pictures are send by malicious users in order to gain access to your computers data or possibly to erase the Hard drive's contents

3. Use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit
Often times a power failure can cause a hard drive to end its operation abnormally. This can result in a damaged file system which can render your hard drive data unrechable without professional intervention.
