Ever Wondered Whether Dating Websites are Worth Joining?
In an age where it is extermely difficult to sort the marketing hype from reality it is not clear to many whether dating websites are a legitimate potential source of a life partner, or just a complete waste of time and energy.
I thought there is no better way to find out than asking people who have first hand experience with dating sites so please share your thoughts and experiences!
Are dating websites a good place to find a serious relationship?

Not exactly the same, but I met my husband of 12+ years by answering his ad in the newspaper, so I say they work out for some!

I would say it might work... if one is open minded and not too picky...
There is something unnatural about it.

This is a tough one to answer -- by and large dating sites are entirely worthless, I met a lot of insanely vacuous people through the one site I was a member of for a while, and the site itself was set up terribly. That being said, I managed to meet the love of my life on said site. I feel that this was really just blind luck and that most people would not have such success, so I want to say just don't bother. I do, however, have to say that since there is a small chance, it is worth trying if you are having trouble meeting people in other ways -- just keep realistic expectations.

Yes, they can be an excellent way to find someone special. I think particularly for people who find it hard (for whatever reason) to meet compatible people in real life they are a huge asset.

No!

No! I tried, and all I found were losers. I visited a different church, and immediately found my future husband. We had shared values, interests and background.
