DAVE DRAPER THE BLONDE BOMBER

According to Dave Draper "There wasn't a whole bunch of encouragement or inspiration from a society which considered you either stupid or egotistical and probably a sissy."

In California, Draper initially trained at a gym many called "The Dungeon", which he described as "a large, awful space dug out of the ground on the corner of 4th and Broadway, and later at the original Gold's Gym. Training partners included Frank Zane, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, and Mike Katz.

Dave Draper on Workout Repititions

High Reps - Low Reps - what is the answer Dave?

"High reps can be good for trimming, conditioning, pumping or treating injuries. They can be also excessive and boring.

Medium reps fit all purposes.

Low reps are generally used for bulking and increasing power, but can be also an injury risk.

That's why I like to mix the reps - to get the benefits and rewards of all three.

Carry on God's speed dd"

Dave Draper on Exercise Class

Starting Womens Exercise Class Dave, Any Suggestions

"Depending on the group size and their receptiveness, you might encourage them to warm-up, gain focus and add to their conditioning and learning by doing five minutes of crunches and bent-leg leg raises -1 set of maximum crunches (10 -15 reps), plus 1 set max leg raises (10-15 reps). Repeat if popular.

With dumbbells you can do standing or seated curls and alternate curls for biceps, and lying and overhead dumbbell triceps extensions for triceps. Modified floor pushups are a good triceps exercise, which includes shoulder, chest and back muscle engagement as well.

Consider starting with two sets of 10-12 reps of any four exercise (standing biceps curl, seated alternate curl / overhead triceps extension, lying stiffarm pullover - the straight-arm version of lying tri ext.), in that order.

Development depends on consistency in training and intensity in training. Only with these disciplines will progress be made.

Progress from light to heavy as equipment allows. Keep focused on the work and muscles involved, keep a smart pace to keep interest and energy and warmth high. DD"

This sounds like good advice for anyone Man or Woman.

I remember Dave Draper breaking handcuffs in a video presentation of him during the first "World's Strongest Man" contest back in the seventies. Ever since then I thought it would be extremely cool to be able to break handcuffs! I saw it done one other time when one of the "God Squad," or, whatever their name was, broke handcuffs. The "God Squad" is a group of muscle men who do feats of strength inspired by religion.
