David Cook's Second Album
I'm loving this CD; find myself humming melodies and singing random lyrics without even realizing it. I'm also loving David's latest releases: From Here to Zero, which he debuted in Las Vegas, and This Is the Last Song I'll Write for You, which he introduced on the May 10 American Idol results show.
Check out this great interview with David Cook conducted by Shirley Halperin as part of her Idol Hangover series. Lots of new information, insights, and all-around GOODness.

This Loud Morning Lyrics Quiz
David Cook's Sophomore Album
Evocative and intriguing lyrics are hallmarks of all of David Cook's music.
This quiz presents lines from various songs on his sophomore album, This Loud Morning. Can you identify which line goes with which David Cook song? No fair peeking at the lyrics booklet that came with the CD. You do have the CD, don't you? If not, I've provided a link, below. A recommendation: while each song definitely can stand on its own merit, the experience will be more rewarding if you listen to the CD as it was designed -- so you can follow the storyline and get the full impact and context of the lyrics.
Note: Some of the voting choices are from his first post-American Idol album, David Cook or from his pre-Idol album, Analog Heart, just to keep it interesting. Avid fans will undoubtedly know which titles go with which album.

David Cook Rocks!
Favorite Song on "This Loud Morning"?
Including Bonus Tracks
This Loud Morning, David Cook's sophomore album, includes 12 main tracks and a couple of bonus songs. The songs are linked thematically -- lyrically and musically as well sharing a common storyline. When listened to as a whole, rather than piecemeal, the album follows the arc of a relationship as told in the context of a night of dreaming. Songs range from optimism to realism to resignation, along the way exploring some deeper (and darker) issues. It's a fascinating journey intellectually as well as musically.

Incredible Performance of Fade Into Me
MidCoast Station published a great of David Cook's November 25 hometown show. Check it out. Included below, from that show: a completely unplugged version of Fade Into Me. No mics, no band. Just David and guitar in an absolutely quite theater (and that's a tribute in itself, because getting that many people at a rock concert to stay quiet during a performance is a definite sign that the audience knew to expect something very special and that their respect for the performer made them control their [natural] impulses to shriek).
Ten Wasn't Enough
I think everyone's been at that point where they just feel, 'Man, the world is loud.' The only reprieve you get is when you're asleep. I wanted to blend that feeling with the romantic idea that you can live your entire life during the hours you're asleep - that there's this pause button you can use to make sense of the world around you.

in Helping Somali Girls
One of the things that has won David Cook such loyal fans (in addition to his talent and charisma) is his generosity when it comes to helping others. A recent effort has involved working to provide young girls in a Somali refugee camp with the wherewithal to attend school. Donors to Girl Up! can help provide these girls with uniforms, books, and school supplies. In return, David is donating free downloads of We Believe, from This Loud Morning. A Review of This Loud Morning
With all biases aside, Cook is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, and live performer...
The album includes balanced amounts of strings, piano, and crunchy guitar, which all suit this more mature sounding. Cook's more developed lyrics, melodic structures (he co-wrote all 12 tracks), and grittier vocal performances throughout the album abundantly display his overall growth as an artist... This Loud Morning offers an irresistible balance of pop and rock to satisfy existing fans and entice new ones to Cook's musical camp...
...these 12 tracks do indeed seem to get irresistibly better with each repeated listen...

Cook's Music Inspires Romance Writer

According to romance novelist Cindy Kirk, David Cook's song Come Back to Me played on a continuous loop while she was writing her book In Love with John Doe. In an interview with USA TODAY, she says:
My husband was so sick of hearing that song. He'd come into my office and ask, "Are you listening to that again?" I wanted to tell him I'd never stopped listening to it.
I have a feeling there are other writers out there who have been inspired by David Cook and his music...

Performances from the Declaration Tour
Songs from the First Album
If you don't yet own this album, I recommend getting it. It's still the best way to listen to the music (although I have MP3s of my favorite performances and listen to them often, the spotty audio can be frustrating). So listen to the album and then browse the concert performances to get even more of a feel for the sheer awesomeness of a David Cook concert.

Goofy Dave
As If I Needed Another Reason...
... to be a fan of David Cook. You'd think the Voice and the talent would be enough. Or the sincere desire to help others, which manifests itself in so many ways -- whether running races to raise money to cure cancer, or donating hand-drawn artwork, buying goofy pillows for $1,000 at a fundraiser, quietly donating money to help a town ravaged by a weather disaster. Or his availability to fans, his artful tweets, his love of words, his insane sense of humor.
But then there was the Penn State Pants Incident (watch it on You Tube) in which he turned a wardrobe malfunction into a hilarious interlude. The man is a pro and his concerts are only predictable in the sense that they're always interesting and never repeat. Go to 15 David Cook concerts and you'll see 15 different concerts, not one concert 15 times. Gotta love that.
Random events seems to be the norm at David Cook concerts. As I encounter them I'll showcase my faves (with many thanks to the people who share these little gems on YouTube so people who weren't there get a tiny taste of the awesomeness of the live event).
Showing Now: Dave Meets Mini-Dave (Greenville, SC) A very young fan (with more than a passing resemblance to our Mr. Cook climbs up on stage and becomes an impromptu member of the band. So sweet it makes my teeth hurt. All 3 parts included here, but do click the videos afterward to get additional details.
And just added: Sweetwater Studios. David records an acoustic version of Fade Into Me for a compilation CD of songs by national recording artists, and sold to benefit Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis (cooperative venture with station Majic 95.1).
