Davinci Kalani Convertible Baby Crib

So far crib exceeding my expectations I am a first time mom and maybe spending more time then I should in reading product reviews before I buy something for the baby. When I was looking for cribs I listed our criteria starting with the price range, no drop sides, convertible etc. Kalani was one of the cribs that matched my search criteria. When I read all the reviews (with lowest rating) on amazon.com I decided that I can put up with the comments abouts easily scratchable, bad finish etc. When we received the crib I warned my husband about the complaints therefore we were very careful when we handled the parts. There was no manufacturing related dents other than one minor half inch dent which is at a location that cannot be seen from outside. While we were putting the crib together we didn't make any dents either. Everything went smoothly, instructions were easy to follow, everything we needed was in the package. It took us less than an hour to assemble. After assembling we checked the strudiness and we were very happy with it. Some of the cribs we saw in stores didn't make us feel safe but this crib definetely did. Also, the standard mattress I got for this crib fit very well, no gaps between crib and the mattress. So far I am very happy with the crib.

Lovely Crib We bought this crib with the white finish, (it's a true white, not an off-white) and it appears to be a pretty durable finish. I dropped a few pieces while putting it together, and they didn't scratch or nick at all. I have to assume the folks who had problems with the easily scratched finishes bought the stained versions of this crib.

The parts were well-packaged for shipping. The box arrived somewhat dinged and dented, but no parts of the crib were damaged when it arrived.

The assembly was pretty simple. My husband and I put it together in a little over an hour, and needed only a Phillips head screwdriver in addition to the included hardware.

Moving the mattress up and down and converting the crib into a daybed appears to be very simple as well.

The assembled crib is lovely and very sturdy. We're very pleased with our purchase!

absolutely wonderful crib We saw this crib and my wife picked it out when she was roughly 7 weeks pregnant. It happened to be one of the first we looked it. After that day, we continued looking at about 50 other cribs but could not find anything else we both liked that fit in our budget. We just kept coming back to this crib!
People say that it isn't the easiest thing to put together, but I came home from work one day, and my wife had this completely together by herself.
It doesn't scratch that easily if your careful, and that wasn't a concern for us anyway. We figure that we can always refinish it when we decide to convert it to a full size bed anyway.
The crib is great though, my wife has no problem reaching in and putting our daughter in while she is sleeping.

Setup - Incredibly Easy - 5/5 - My wife figured it out stating that the directions were easy enough to follow. A few of the bolts are deeply recessed, making them difficult to tighten, but that seems to be the safest way with a little one getting ready to rattle this around.

Durability - Pretty Good - 4/5 - The crib is very solidly built. When you keep in mind that it's not made of solid oak, it just seems even more durable given the materials. I would recommend ensuring that you double check your bolts every few weeks.

Color and Appeal - Excellent - 5/5 - We were able to match this crib with some additional furniture at IKEA and the colors work incredibly well together.

Overall, I recommend this crib as a safe alternative for the budget-aware parent.
