  • Kregg Lumpkin finds himself in the spotlight after two major injuries at running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The St. Petersburg Times looks at the situation in the backfield.
  • INJURY UPDATES: Hines Ward hurt his ankle and has not practiced at all this week, and looks not to play Week 8. In Cleveland, although former Dawg Ben Watson (TE) has returned to practice this week from a concussion, Mohammed Massaquoi has missed practice for the same reason. Both are questionable for this week's game against San Francisco.

  • Former UGA running back Verron Haynes worked out for the Atlanta Falcons yesterday. The Falcons just lost starting fullback Ovie Mughelli to a season-ending knee injury in week seven's game against the Lions.
  • Former Georgia defensive tackle Kade Westorn worked out for the Houston Texans.

    RB Kregg Lumpkin signed with Seattle.
    CB Prince Miller signed with Buffalo.
    LB Rennie Curran signed with Tampa Bay.
  • JAN 19, 2012 - Former Dawg D-Lineman Geno Atkins is hoping to make the Pro Bowl this year. He looks like he will, after tallying some of the best numbers in the league for his position in 2012.
  • DEC 16, 2011 - Former Georgia defensive lineman Demetric Evans graduated from UGA today. Evans played in the NFL for nine years before returning to finish his degree. The AJC's Chip Towers profiled Evans journey - this is a good read and a great story about someone who didn't HAVE to come back to school but did. Other Georgia athletes who graduated in the 2011 winter ceremony included: Nic Clemons, Justin Anderson, Candler Cook, Eric Elliot, Josh Sailors, Trinton Sturdivant, Bruce Figgins, Richard Samuel and Ben Harden.
  • Illya 'Hiawatha' Berry: Played in the Arena League from 1992-1995.
  • Hason Graham: Played for New England in 1995 and 1996. In 1999 Graham played in the Arena League.
  • Kelin Johnson, Matt and Jon Stinchcomb, Quentin Moses, DJ Shockley and David Greene all took part in the Allstate SEC Good Works Day in Atlanta on December 1st. The players pitched in at the CHRIS Kids facility. Read more at GeorgiaDogs.com.
  • Jermaine Smith: After stints in the NFL, Smith has played in the Arena League since 2002. (Pictured)
  • Bruce Adrine: Played in the Arena League from 2004-2005.
  • Kirby Smart: Currently the defensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
  • Brian McLendon: Currently the running backs coach for the University of Georgia.

  • Jarius Wynn In Starting Lineup for Packers
    October 21, 2011 - The Lincoln Co. High School grad and former Bulldog has started four of the first six games this season. The defensive tackle has racked up 11 tackles and 3 sacks - already more than he had his first two seasons in the league.

  • Danny Ware seeing more playing time in New York
    October 18, 2011 - There was not a lot of support by NFL draft "experts" when Danny Ware declared himself an eligible underclassman in 2007. And here we are and the former Georgia running-back is still in the league and seeing more action as of late. Ware is on pace to have more carries, rushing yards and receptions this season than any other (and his totals have gone up progressively over the years). Through 6 games he has 12 carries for 44 yards and 3 receptions for 27 yards.

  • Boling & Green off to a good start in Cincy
    September 11, 2011 - Today's matchup against the Cleveland Browns was the first professional football game that AJ Green and Clint Boling will ever play - and they're both in the starting lineup for the Cincinnati Bengals.
    Green's first NFL catch ended up being a touchdown - a 41 yarder that gave the Bengals lead against the Cleveland Browns.

  • Undrafted free-agent linebacker Daryl Gamble is making the most of his chances in San Diego's camp. Gamble led the team with 7 tackles and 1 sack in the Chargers' first preseason game versus the Seattle Seahawks (a 24-17 loss).
  • Knowshon Moreno carried the ball 4 times for 23 yards in the Broncos 24-23 loss to the Cowboys.

  • Seattle Seahawks WR Mike Williams tweeted after the first day of practice, saying that former Georgia wideout Kris Durham was "catching everything and lookin smooth!"
  • 7th Round pick Shaun Chapas is going to have to make his mark on special teams as well as at full-back in order to make the Dallas roster.
  • Atlanta Falcons linebacker Akeem Dent is in a similar position as Chapas, although as a 3rd Round pick he's got more job security. The Falcons will rely on Dent to play special teams as well as all linebacking positions.

  • Former Dawg Tra Battle is suiting up for the UFL's Hartford Colonials along with former NFLer Ahmad "Batman" Carroll.
  • Marcus Stroud is excited about playing for the Patriots and looking forward to being coached by Bill Belichick. "I think I have some gas left in the legs, man. I'm a pretty young guy who takes pretty good care of himself. "

    AJ Green (CIN): Through 12 games, 55 catches 891 yards and 7 TD's.
    Justin Houston (KC): 13 games, 43 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 4 sacks
    Kris Durham (SEA): Has played in 3 games
    Clint Boley (CIN):Has played in 4 games
    Daryl Gamble (SD): Has played in 3 games
    Shaun Chapas (DAL): the rookie full-back was called up to the Cowboys active roster last week to start against the Cardinals due to an injury to Tony Fiammetta. Chapas had a bizarre first week in the NFL - he was fined $20,000 for a blindsight hit on an Arizona linebacker during a special teams play. Shaun made $22,000 for the game (he will be appealing the fine, according to his agent). (ESPN.com)

  • Geno Atkins: Starting defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Jeff Owens: Cut by the Eagles after leg injury, now coaching high school football in Georgia.
  • Kade Weston: A member of the Patriots practice squad in 2010, was cut in 2011 and has been working on for other teams.
  • Reshad Jones: Starting safety for the Miami Dolphins.
  • Linebacker Rennie Curran was released by the Tennessee Titans in 2011. He has been in talks with other teams throughout the season and is staying in shape. I'll update the site as soon as I hear anything new.
  • In addition to Curran, the following 2010 Dawgs were cut in the final NFL cutdowns of 2011: DT Kade Weston (NE), CB Prince Miller (DET), WR Michael Moore (DET).

  • FB Fred Munzenmaier had the misfortune of playing at the same time that Shaun Chapas was at Georgia. Chapas is now plays for the Dallas Cowboys, and Munzenmaier might have been able to start on almost any other team in the country.

    COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS:
    2010: 5 receptions (team high) for 36 yards vs. MISS ST.
    2009: Appeared in 13 games with one start making 10 carries for 36 yards and two TDs.
    Appeared in 47 games for UGA in his career.

    WHERE IS HE NOW?
    Answer: GATA Training. Munzenmaier, who attended GATA as a player, is now a trainer for the center. Some former Bulldogs who also train at GATA include Rennie Curran, Clint Boling and Kris Durham.
    **Current Bulldog punter Drew Butler has also been training with GATA in the offseason.

    **2011 Season** Boling drafted by the Bengals

    Clint Boling will be joining AJ Green as a rookie this season in Cincinnati. Boling was selected in the 4th Round of the 2011 draft. Green and Boling will join Robert Geathers, Geno Atkins and Dennis Roland in Cincinnati.
    In recent years other former Bulldogs drafted by the Bengals include linebackers Odell Thurman and David Pollack.

    *2010 SEASON* Owens likely to make first NFL appearance

    October 14, 2010

    PHILADELPHIA -- Former Georgia DT Jeff Owens will likely make his first appearance in an NFL game this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. Owens was drafted last April by Philadelphia but has been relegated to the practice squad thus far in his NFL career. The Eagles may be without defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley, who has an elbow injury.

    Cincinnati.com looks at the rookie defensive tackle.

    "He just takes to doing everything you ask him to do and has been able to just do the things a good player does," defensive line coach Jay Hayes said. "He's good at keeping his pads level and for the most part has his hands in the right spot."
