Things to See and Do in Emporia, Kansas

Looking for a day trip in South-Central Kansas? It's time to check out Emporia in the scenic Flint Hills region. A drive through the rolling hills with Emporia as the destination makes a very pleasant outing. I'll share with you some sights to take in while in Emporia and a sampling of restaurants in this vintage university town.

Last spring my sister and I took a road trip to Emporia and we loved touring the William Allen White home. Check out my photos of it below.

We lunched in this cafe and my bowl of basil-tomato soup was thick and tasty. The crusty bread that accompanied it was great for dipping in the soup. My sister had a vegetarian sandwich that came on thick slices of homemade bread. The half sandwich was certainly a meal by itself. We indulged in the homemade cookies (peanut butter) for dessert. They were already out of the oatmeal and the chocolate chip ones by 1:00. Popular downtiown dining spot.
