The F/V Rollo

The Rollo is a 107 foot crab boat built in 1976 with a crew complement of six. During the crab season you'll find the Rollo based out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. In January or February you'll catch her on the Bering Sea near the Pribilof Islands fishing for Opilio. In the summers she is a salmon tender in Bristol Bay or SE Alaska.

Described as: "the most ass-kicking crab fishing boat in Alaska!" (by her crew).
Rollo personal quote: "Kitty is my hero."

The Rollo appeared on the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch in the second season.

Right now the original Rollo website (rollocrab.com) is on hiatus. I bet some lucky crew member gets to sort that out. This tiny lens is my homage to that ship and those on board.

Corey Arnold Photography
Corey graciously allowed me the use of his photos - the ones you've been enjoying here. Check out the great material he's posted. If you are wondering how he took them, he is a deckhand on the Rollo.

Corey's website has been totally updated and kicks some serious ass! Go check it out! Now!

More from Corey here.

Todd Stanley's site with some cool DC footage. He was the cameraman aboard the Rollo. You can see a few small photos of Corey's there. Just sit and wait until the video loads (which may take a bit - patience grasshopper).

As you thumb through some of Ryan's great photographs you'll find some of your favorite ship and her crew.

Great lens - 5 stars! Love the "most ass kicking fishing boat in Alaska" quote - and the fishing looks mental! For videos about boats and boating, check out HouseOfBoats.com

Loved you guys on Deadliest Catch, and sorry that Discovery hasn't seen fit to keep up with you, at least for us fan's sake. At least a cameo would have been nice.
And it is real obvious that it's pretty busy on-deck, but maybe you guys could spring for some average camera gear and shoot your OWN footage for us fans you won over. Sea legs for me are hard to find, but I'd do it for free! =)
Erik! You're the best! My favorite moment on DC was when you found that pot without the help of GPS, IN A BLIZZARD! WOW!

Hey guys! Be safe out there! Thank you for the crab on my plate at Red Lobster! I'll never look at a king crab the same again!
