Channel4deal or no deal

The show in its original format first appeared on Dutch TV and was actually called "Miljoenenjacht". It later appeared on Australian TV and this was the birth of the Deal or No Deal phenomenon. Today shown in over 70 countries worldwide, Deal Or No Deal has proved itself to be one of the most successful and popular game shows on TV. Deal or No Deal first aired in the UK on Channel 4 on October 31 back in 2005. The first series finished on 22 July 2006, and the second one started 28 August 2006. The hit game show is presented by Noel Edmonds and normally airs around teatime (4-6pm) on weekdays and is repeated on Channel 4's digital sister station, More4, at 6.05pm. deal or no deal games uk

The prizes on the TV game show range from just 1p right up to £250,000, this is the biggest price ever on UK daytime television. The prize values are written inside 22 sealed red boxes, each box is identical except for the number on the front - so there is no way for the contestants to know which box contains the big prizes except by elimination. All the boxes are sealed before the show by an independent adjudicator. That means neither Noel, the contestants, the banker or the TV production team know whats inside each box. This is one of the reasons the show is so popular producing real edge of the seat tension in every episode!

How is deal or no deal played? First of all the boxes are opened by the 21 contestants ready to play, these contestants even while not actively playing can offer help and advice to the actual player, this means that they are familiar to the TV audience by the time they get their turn to play the game. Each day's player is selected by the producers, instead of through a quiz as is done in some other versions. Each day a new contestant joins those opening boxes and waiting to play, replacing the person who played the previous day. These unique aspects of this game get the audiences totally involved over the sourse of the week.
