Where to buy Wholesale Electronics
Even when I choose to buy something from a local retailer, I always do my research and price comparisons online. It helps to get me informed and makes my 'brick and mortar' shopping experience better. In the last few years, the number of online retailers and wholesalers overseas has really increased. Many of these companies are dealing directly with the manufacturers of their products and that means very good pricing. Because many of the goods that Westerners buy these days are produced in Asia, it makes sense that these big online retailers can operate local to the factories and provide excellent prices. What makes these sites especially good is that you get bulk discounts in some cases starting in quantities of 2 or more. As the quantities get bigger, so does the discount.
This is a list (because the Internet loves lists!) of some of the bigger overseas retailers and wholesalers, and some information about my experience with them. Feel free to let me know your experience with any of them and I can keep things updated. There are definitely some important things to know before you start shopping.

DealExtreme
Dealextreme.comI will start with one of the biggies. DealExtreme is a monster. Offering over 100,000 products mostly related to electronics and gadgets. Basically, no one beats them on price. It's ridiculously cheap! They have extensive product categories and an active customer community. You will find many customer reviews on the product pages and often these will be contain valuable information about the product you are looking at. DealExtreme benefits from scale and they generally have the lowest prices. The quality varies depending on what you are buying, but I have had good luck with them, especially for flashlights and computer peripherals.
DX gets favorable mention here because they now have a US and UK warehouse which greatly decreases shipping time. Otherwise, shipping can take anywhere from one week to six weeks based on locations and inventory. If you are in the states, definitely check the US warehouse. If you are not, well just be glad that the shipping is free and sit back and wait for that slow boat from Hong Kong..
* Huge selection
* Very low prices
* US and UK warehouses
All Buy
Allbuy.comAllbuy.com is an interesting one. Many, many products a lot of which you will find on DealExtreme but with the option of buying in bulk for wholesale prices. Before you get too scared off by that, keep in mind that 10 pieces can earn you a 'wholesale' rate. I actually bought some rechargeable batteries from them and buying 10 made the price incredible inexpensive. All buy has a great website, very clean and easy to navigate and you can adjust the item quantities in your shopping cart to check how the price changes. Please do read through the FAQ to get all the rules. My order with All buy took about 2 weeks which I felt was very reasonable for the savings involved. Definitely worth a look especially for smaller items which you may want to stock up on.
* Large selection
* Easy to use site
* Wholesale pricing on bulk purchase
Made in China
Madeinchina.comSometimes the domain name just says it all! Made in China.com is a site that looks suspiciously like DealExtreme.com (hint, hint) The product categories do overlap but there are some differences. They do offer free shipping and again out of Hong Kong Post. This site has some decent China branded cell phones and some interesting deals on generic clone cell phones. Very good prices and when they decide to move some old stock, they really give the stuff away. Again, you are going to have to wait for the order in some cases but what can you expect for free shipping?
Made in China.com has a very well laid out wholesale section that allows you to buy by the lot at a significant discount. Great for doing group buys with a couple of people.
* Extensive selection
* Easy to navigate
* Free shipping
* Wholesale prices on volume buys
Important!
Listen guys, be smart. Use PayPal to make purchases over the internet. It is good to have an intermediary in case there is a problem.
