Death Note

An extremely bright young man, Light Yagami (hence, the name Light?), had picked up a myteriously note book named "Death Note".

"Death Note" - A note book when written with a human's name on it, the person will die.

Light Yagami hates the all the crime and corruption that has been ongoing in the world and when he discovered the capability of the "Death Note", he decided to be the "God" and rid the world of all the criminals to create a new world which is crime free by passing judgement(death) to all he deemed that deserved it.

Soon, the high numbers of unexplainable death of reported criminals catches the attention the International Police Organization. "L" a mysterious detective was assigned on the case and he managed to conclude that the serial killer is capable of killng his victims without laying a finger on them. From there, the story truly begins...

Light Yagami aka Kira

An extremely bright 17 year old student who picked up the "Death Note" dropped intentionally in the human world by a shinigami, Ryuk. Upon realizing the powers of the note book, decided to create a new world free of crimes and corruption. He is also known to the public as Kira.

L

L, known as one of the best detective in the world, assigned to the task of arresting Kira. He has many strange behaviour such as sitting in a odd manner, holding stuff in a weird position and eating lots of sweet stuffs. All these were said to enhance his deduction/ thinking ability - as informed by L himself. He will, to lure Kira to a trap, disclosed his own weakness at the risk of his life.

Misa Amane

An asset to Light's plan due to her "Death Note" and shinigami eyes. Misa is a popular female idol in Japan and she has a huge crush on Light. Misa is said to fall for Light at first sight and she devotes herself to him after she learnt that Light had killed her parents' murderer after several trials failed to convict him.

Watari

Owner of Whammy's House, a home for gifted children. Always by L's side, Watari is the only person who know L's face and his location, before the start of this saga.

Mello

An orphan who grew up in Watari's home for gifted chilren aka Whammy's House. Mello was one of the candidates to become L's successor. He is intelligent, however, he tends let his emotions get the better of him. It seems that he love chocolates and has an interest in bikes.

Near

Also an extremely intelligent person, Near was the primary candidate to become L's successor. He calls himself during the times when he is investigating on cases. Similar to L, he sits in a strange position. He formed the Secret Provision for Kira after he was turned down by Mello when he volunteered to join forces with him to hunt down Kira.

Matt

A very heavy smoker and an avid gamer. Matt can be seen with a portable gaming system everywhere he goes. It seems like he never take down his googles in the anime. He was one of L's successor.

Teru Mikami

Light selected him as the fourth Kira as it was too risky for him and Misa to be near the Death Note when they are watched by Aizawa and Mogi. Mikami had many similar ideals, thoughts and goal as Kira. He was very loyal and devoted himself to Kira. He thought of Kira as his god.

Ryuk

The shinigami that drop a "Death Note" in the human world, which is picked up by Light. Ryuk is often bored and loves apples. Ryuk occasionally aids Light when it benefits him, such as events that provide him amusement and apples.

Gelus

Gelus another shinigami, only appeared in flashback to tell the story of why Misa was chosen as the owner of another "Death Note" - and how to kill a shinigami.

Rem

A female shinigami who gave Misa a "Death Note". The "Death Note" given by Rem was previously Gelus. However, Gelus died after saving Misa, hence, Rem passed the "Death Note" to Misa as she feels that it should belong to Misa. Unlike Ryuk, Rem is very protective of Misa and would even sacrifice herself to save Misa.

Sidoh

The third shinigami that was seen appeared in the human world. Sidoh revealed that he was the original owner of the "Death Note" that had Ryuk dropped at the beginning of the series. He had came to the human world to retreive back his "Death Note"
