Vince McMahon - This Is For You

I was once a diehard WWE (WWF) fan. When I was in college, the Monday Night War was in full force (WCW vs. WWE). Vince eventually bought up ECW and WCW. I thought to myself, this is so cool, just think of all the new feuds and storylines that could be developed:

nWo vs. DX
Goldberg vs. Stone Cold
Sting vs. The Rock
Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon
Tony Schiavone vs. Michael Cole (huge PPV draw)

But it never happened. After the purchase of WCW, it all went downhill for Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon

You may know Vince McMahon as that crazy son of a mother that was giving away one million dollars of his own money (he's a billionaire, he can afford it) each week in an attempt to gain more viewers to his Raw TV show (that stunt failed).

When Vince purchased WCW, he didn't bring over the big name WCW wrestlers as quickly as he should have. Fans expected big matches like several nWo and DX bouts and Goldberg vs. Austin could have been as huge as Hogan vs. Andre at WrestleMania III. These were the type of matches fans expected when Vince made the WCW purchase.

I am not going to cover the steroids scandal or the lawsuits pending for the fireworks disaster at the end of Wrestlemania 24.

I am going to focus on the the reason for the ratings decline for the WWE. Vince was one of the smartest business men in America. For some reason, he is now not so smart. Vince, this is for you.

Raw

Raw is the flagship TV show for the WWE. It is the only live TV show and the reason why it has the highest ratings. Raw had a WWE Draft on June 23, 2008. Raw's biggest star was Triple H who was drafted to SmackDown.

Longtime WWE favorite commentor Jim Ross, who has been a part of Raw for 10 years, was also traded to SmackDown.

Raw did pick up a big star in Batista. Shortly before the draft, a news story broke that Batista wants to retire in a couple of years (he will be 40 in 2009 - I didn't think he was that old!). The WWE quickly put Batista and John Cena together so they could finally get their long-awaited feud going.

It is a WrestleMania big feud but the WWE may not have a chance to wait that long (April 5, 2009) as ratings continue to decline and you never know who will be healthy come April (update: this match took place at SummerSlam - Batista won). Personally, I think the Batista vs. Cena rivalry should have happened at any one of the last three or four WrestleManias.

"Nobody cares about the WWE Drafts. All the wrestlers end up wrestling on other TV brands anyway."

SmackDown

By adding Triple H and Jim Ross along with fan favorite Jeff Hardy, SmackDown looks to be the new elite show. As a note, Jim Ross was actually furious he was drafted to SmackDown and said in his blog that he was thinking of retiring but later backed off that thinking. He has hard work ahead of him getting Mick Foley to be a better announcer because Mick almost has no clue what he is doing.

The WWE is really pushing SmackDown as the best show as it will soon be moving to a new home in the fall of 2008 to MyNetworkTV (CW did not want to renew their SmackDown contract). I really can't wait to see the ratings for the first SmackDown on MyNetworkTV (I have never heard of this TV station before).

SmackDown is taped and will likely suffer further ratings decline until they at least start doing live shows. Fans like live shows because of the feeling anything can happen (maybe Hulk Hogan or Eric Bishoff will show up). A taped show doesn't have that electricity of a surpise could be coming, especially if the WWE shows the results of the show on its homepage before they even air the episode.

ECW

ECW (another taped show) stands for Extreme Championship Wrestling, but it usually isn't extreme at all. Vince, why do you keep calling it ECW if it's not extreme. It is rather stupid.

I understand you don't want to risk the safety of the wrestlers (I'm ok with that). Just stop calling it ECW; call it SmackUp or Thunder or Nitro - stop calling it ECW. Vince, stop false advertising your product, then you won't confuse what viewers you have left.

I was actually hoping with the June WWE draft they would end the ECW brand and move those ECW guys to Raw and SmackDown.

Why I Stopped Watching WWE TV?

I stopped watching the WWE shortly after WrestleMania 23. The product is stale and Vince and his crew think by having these drafts that will excite people to watch again.

Hello ... it doesn't matter what show these guys get drafted to - they always end up wrestling on the other brands. Kane, for example, appeared on all three shows in the same week. Who cares what show he was drafted to? Everybody just ends up wrestling on other shows. There is no meaning to the drafts.

And where is the new talent? People are sick of Triple H, Cena, Batista and Edge all the time. The WWE is looking quite similar to WCW when they would push only the real big superstars and maybe only push one new wrestler like WCW did with Goldberg and that was it. It was all nWO, Sting and DDP after that. Vince, you remember what happens to a wrestling company when they don't push new guys?

The Undertaker and Edge fought in four consecutive PPVs in the main event starting with WrestleMania 24. The WWE wants you to spend money seeing the same match four times in a row with only slight match stipulation changes?

Wrestlers I Miss

First and foremost, I miss Lita (Amy Dumas). That girl had more talent and in-ring ability than most of the male wrestlers! If she didn't have that neck injury and that really public break-up with Matt Hardy, she would be an even better wrestler and bigger star today. Lita was known for her red hair, big tattoo, moonsaults, thongs and Litacanranas.

I know Lita is into her music career right now, but if the WWE was serious about getting their ratings up, they should try to convince Lita to come back. At least bring in another pretty WWE Diva that is a risk-taker.

Nathan Jones didn't stay in the WWE that long (the traveling schedule was not to his liking). But this guy had all the potential in the world to be one of the biggest stars ever. Nathan Jones had the "look" of a wrestler (he is 6' 10" and 350 lbs.).

Brock Lesnar is another guy I wish was still in the WWE. In three years time, he was a three-time World Heavyweight Champion. He was pushed heavily in the WWE (Vince, these are the guys you need to push - push new wrestlers).

Brock had tremendous conditioning and atheltic ability for a big man. Lesnar and Goldberg were two of the biggest names in sports entertainment and it was quite unique that both had their last match in the WWE when they faced each other at WrestleMania XX. Goldberg's one-year contract was up and Brock tried out for the NFL, but got cut by the Minnesota Vikings before football season began.

On a side note, a wrestler I do NOT miss is Booker T. This guy could not come up with his own gimmick and stole The Rock's persona. Everything from the Rock Bottom to the Book End, to the quotes of "Do you smell what The Rock is cooking?" to "Can you dig it, sucka?" and even the most electrifying move in wrestling The People's Elbow to The Spinarooni (although different moves) was stolen from The Rock by Booker T.

Come on Booker, you have to be better than that or you will continue to be a joke. Booker T is the black Rocky Maivia. I am amazed he was WCW champ five times. At least the WWE got this right by not pushing Booker with world championships.

WrestleMania 25

WrestleMania 25 will take place on April 5, 2009 and I thought I would help Vince McMahon out by coming up with matches for their biggest PPV (they honestly need help). The last 3-4 WrestleMania PPVs have lost their "Wow, that is a huge match" feel.

I am only considering wrestlers who are actively in the WWE, so guys like Bret Hart, Lesnar and Kurt Angle will not factor in the matches. Obviously this can change if new wrestlers actually show up in the WWE.

Since their is no new talent and most of the wrestlers have already have had extended feuds with each other, it will be difficult to come up with exciting matches (this is a problem Vince), but I am going to try.

I am also ignoring who is on what brand and what championships belong to those brands as everybody jumps ship anyway. WrestleMania was suppose to be that one PPV where Raw guys could face SmackDown guys, but the WWE ruined that angle.

Below are the big matches that we should see at WrestleMania 25 (possibly the last WrestleMania PPV before the WWE folds up).

WrestleMania 25 Main Events

WrestleMania 25 Results

Keep in my mind these matches will be determined by guys being healthy and still active with the WWE.

Cena vs Batista

This match finally took place at SummerSlam, but look for a much hyped rematch at Wrestlemania. There should be a lengthy build-up to the Batista vs. Cena matchup. No belts on the line in this one. This is just one of those actual big time WrestleMania matches (like Hogan vs Andre, Hogan vs The Rock, Goldberg vs. Lesnar, Stone Cold vs. The Rock, Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle). I say Batista wins.

Jeff Hardy (WWE Champ) vs. Edge

These two have obviously faced each other numerous times in tag team and singles competition, but this will be a high-risk match of evenly entertaining competitors in what should be a tremendous match. Jeff finally main events a WrestleMania and I pick him to win.

Triple H (World Champ) vs. Ric Flair

Obviously this will be dependent on Ric Flair wanting big money for a one time return to the ring. The storyline here is Ric wants one more title reign (he would then forfeit the belt). Triple H is the biggest threat to the Nature Boy's record 16 World Heavyweight Championships. Ric wants to prolong his record a little longer. I say Ric wins. If Flair doesn't come out of retirement for one night, look for Jimmy Wang Yang to be Triple H's opponent (yes, another big PPV draw).

The Undertaker vs. Does it really matter (Shawn Michaels)

The undefeated WrestleMania 16-0 streak of The Undertaker vs. Mr. Wrestlemania himself. The storyline here is HBK ended Ric Flair's career in the previous WrestleMania, he could end The Undertaker's undefeated streak. Perhaps this could even be an iron man match to make it seem to favor HBK to win. The Undertaker wins however (he goes to the WWE Hall of Fame as the only wrestler to be undefeated at the biggest PPV event).

The Actual Wrestlemania 25 Matches

Posted 4/4/09

You know your business is in bad shape when you still haven't sold out the biggest event of the year.

So I only got one match right and wrestling fans are stuck with rerun matches for the biggest PPV of the year. I will list my predictions for the winners.

Jericho vs. Steamboat, Snuka & Piper

The legends beat down Y2J (with the help of Ric Flair).

25 Diva Battle Royale

I say Mickie James wins it all.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

I believe Shelton Benjamin walks away with a future title shot. If not him, then Christian, but his return to the WWE has been wasted by wrestling in the ECW development league. He should be a primetime player now.

HBK vs. The Undertaker

The one match I got right. Taker continues his streak, but look for this to be the best match of the night.

Carlito & Primo vs. The Miz & John Morrison

They are finally unifying the tag team titles. Tag team wrestling just isn't that popular these days. It hasn't been popular since the nWo days of The Outsiders. The Miz & Morrison collect all the gold at Mania.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

Something is wrong with Jeff. He was World Champ for about a month and then lost it right back. Now he is not even being considered for a main event at WrestleMania. He is further "punished" by losing this match. Matt will try to make a bigger name for himself by defeating his more popular brother.

JBL vs. Rey Mysterio

JBL says he is going to make history at Mania. I see him picking up the win and for history, unmasking Rey?

Cena vs. Big Show vs. Edge

The WWE is using a love triangle storyline involving the still can't-act-worth-a-damn Vickie Guerrero, Edge and Big Show = really lame. Cena wins the title.

Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Why Orton "take your steroids and you too can main event WrestleMania" is getting yet another match with the World Title on the line is beyond comprehension? He got one last year and now here we are again. Orton walks out as champ as Vince and Shane attack Triple H to secure the win for Orton.

Hopefully the WWE will keep the fireworks away from the crowd this year.

The Future of the WWE

Ratings continue to decline for WWE programming. They have certainly lost some viewers to MMA (mixed martial arts - Brock Lesnar has tried the MMA arena).

The WWE has way too many PPVs a year. Some months even have two PPVs - ridiculous! They need to reduce the PPVs down to six per year. Make the PPV events seem special, Vince, instead of the same matches that you can see for free on TV and then you expect people to pay to see basically the same match again with maybe a new match stipulation.

Bring back Lita (by stating this again, I can put another picture of her here - look at those abs!).

Vince needs more than just an annual draft to "shake things up a bit." He needs new wrestlers and lots of them. Vince, you need help. You need to contact me, Vince McMahon, because I have plenty of ideas (although they will cost you some mon-ay). I have ideas for gimmicks, finishing moves, new ring set-up, cameras and more.

What will you do next, Vince? Buy TNA wrestling? Sell the WWE? Or just let the WWE product die on its own?

The WWE needs drastic changes before their entire audience disappears. Wrestlemania 26 may never happen if the WWE doesn't change its product real soon.

There are no new road Warriors, the new wrestlers the WWE sign either suck, or aren't around long enough to make a difference. Heck the WWE has even resorted to signing TNA stars. A renunion of DX is another sucky idea. Who are they going to battle TNA, If they do they will get killed. TNA also has better wrestling divas, and the tag team divas championships was a great idea. Also TNA with New Japan had dynamite matches, alot better than the Retarded old ref was knocked out so I lost match, that was used when Kerry Von Erich fought the One Man Gang 27 years ago in Main Event Wrestling in Texas.
