I have always know that some mushrooms were dangerous and, therefore, would never pick one in the wild!

Very useful information. We get a lot of toadstools here in Cleveland where it is damp a lot.

I had a bad experience with Mushrooms over in Amsterdam - so my advice is, watch which ones you eat! Nice lens! 5 stars.

The only ones I have eaten from the forests in Idaho are the Morel and one we call calfbrains. These are the two we know for sure are safe and recognize them ourselves. Lucy, again I am impressed with the important information you have shared with us, thank you! Linda

Fascinating lens! It took me quite awhile to acquire the taste to enjoy mushrooms from the store - I shudder at the thought of picking wild mushrooms to eat!
  • saraht43 Oct 23, 2008 @ 11:02 am | delete
Interesting lens, I too would stick with the store bought ones.

I pick wild mushrooms all the time and it's good to see you have clear photos of the dangerous ones. (P.S. I believe Claudius was murdered, by person or persons unknown, with amanita phalloides)

We get mushrooms growing wild all around us, in the garden and beyond. Gower (South Wales) is famous for 'magic' mushrooms.... We only eat what we buy in the local supermarket. Great lens.

Thanks for the education! I'll stick to supermarket mushrooms, as always.
