Deborah Gibson was born on August 31, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York where she grew up in Merrick, New York. She was a teen pop icon and was very popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Deborah was the youngest person to write, produce, and perform a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit single in the USA with her song "Foolish Beat", at the age of seventeen.
She often appeared on the cover of many popular teen magazines. She went on to staring roles on Broadway and touring musicals along with independent film and television work. She continues to record and reached the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 2006. It all began when She began performing in community theater with her sisters when she was five and wrote her first song, "Make Sure You Know Your Classroom" at the age of eight. Shortly after she began playing the ukulele and took piano lessons.
