Choosing your online business path to greatness.

Let's take a look at some of the business building methods available out there! Wow where to start?

There are the tried and trusted personal businesses like product sales - do you develop your own, what about using private label & resell rights products? How to find good quality companies to work with?

What about content sites whether you choose to make your money with adsense, yahoo, msn or img ads or maybe even some of the classy ads companies like adsvert, freeaddepot & numerous others?

Why choose to follow the affiliate path, or maybe the pay per click boom? What's in it for us?

How about list building? The buzz word remains "the money is in the list" but how to get it right?

List building can solve a lot of the problems that come with organic SEO and worrying about your sites search engine rankings, but this is not something that you should ever overlook completely. So where do we go with that one?

What tools are helpful for ensuring that we are doing ok with our SEO techniques? Why is it important to avoid black hat stuff even though it can sometimes get us a good SE ranking initially?

I'm happy to share some of my experiences with these issues on this site and would love to hear yours, did you have a similar experience? Do you think I'm talking rubbish? Let me know so we can grow together. The net is a huge place and this pond is plenty big enough to accommodate all of us.

Don't forget to rate this lens and leave a comment so I can get a feel for how useful you find the info & come visit you too!

If you scroll right to the end there's an Amazon plexo (all proceeds to squidoo charities) where you can check out products that may be of interest - vote for them if you have already experienced them, and even add your own favourites!

Looking to make a substantial residual online income? (ask a silly question huh?)

This is a good way to start!

I just found a great new site that is going to really compliment and enhance my current online opportunities and I am so excited about it, I just have to shout about it...

This system offers you an awesome payplan plus a truly cost effective way of generating online income. It is designed to do 95% of the work for you so all you have to do is advertise! It's ideal for newbies and also for experienced marketers, Pro Builder Plus doesn't discriminate!

If you have other business opps though, you can use the excellent tools within this system to supplement them, flash presentations, lead capture pages, autoresponders, contact manager and so much more to tailor towards enhancing your current stuff whilst this system works itself as long as you advertise...

When I first started online I was worried about sponsoring people into a system so I steered clear of many of the programmes advertised out there but recently I have opened my heart to a few of them and I am convinced that Pro Builder Plus is going to be my next big step on the way to achieving my dreams - why not check it out for yourself and let me know what you think?

You can take the free info tour to have a good look at what this system can offer you before you decide to take the plunge. The low monthly fee is easily going to be offset by the excellent payplan though, as long as you have your head around advertising, you will succeed with this system because you don't have to do anything else unless you want to!

Please don't think that makes it too easy though as anyone will tell you that advertising is the most important part of your online income building plan!

Why not check out Pro Builder Plus today though and analyse what it can offer you?

There are excellent sources of advertising / traffic generating on the various lenses on squidoo so what do you have to lose by looking?

Attracting visitors to your site.

Free or paid traffic?

Free traffic is basically what we are all after, and lots of it, especially when starting out and the budget is a little strapped..

Good sources of free traffic are:

Traffic Exchanges, (see my lens roll for more info on traffic generating in general and also a list of really useful exchanges).
Classy ads services such as Freeaddepot and HitTaffic ads, as well as Adlandpro.
Forums, via advertising and signature links, free ad forums and discussion forums can be equally beneficial and discussion forums can really help brand your identity on the net.
Credit based safe lists and solo ads from sources such as MadVlad still work well for many people, although, as with any advertising medium, you need to research these carefully before commiting yourself to them.
Plus of course, organic search engine results.

Once you have used some of the free services available from any of these programmes, you will be able to decide if you wish to upgrade to paid membership in order to generate more traffic with less work on your part. Using the services for free initially, although time consuming, is a great way to test and tweak your ads to be sure that you are hitting the right formula before investing your hard earned cash.

It is advisable to have a dedicated email address when signing up for free advertising from credit based companies as you will receive a lot of mail from them as part of your commitment to gaining free advertising to other members. It needs to be an email address that you check often so that your inbox does not become overfull as bounced mail will usually get your account closed according to T&Cs I've seen so far..

With regard to paid traffic, if your budget can cope with it, this can be a very fast way to get your site recognised and earning. Your ads need to be well written and very targeted however to maximise your returns. Many people have had their fingers badly burned through lack of experience and been put off pay per click etc.

If you have the budget and plan to buy ads, spend as much time as possible in research first to make sure that you write targeted ads that will appeal to your desired market. It's not enough to simply get your keywords right, you have to capture the attention of your potential customer and make them want to click on your ad right away!

There are courses and lots of articles that will provide useful pointers to help you achieve this and we can explore it a little more in the next para..

Some of my best free & paid advertising sites!

What works for me can work for you too.

I regularly use several free to post forums which are outlined in my links module so I won't list them again here. These are a great source of branding for your own online image and also a good source of targetted traffic. To use them really effectively you need to use the same user name and if you are visiting a forum where you can get involved in discussion topics as well as simply post your ads, do because this helps to get you known and recognised. Most of us prefer to buy from or be led by someone who is willing to share something of themself and their experience.

Sites like FreeadDepot and Crocads are excellent sources of traffic too as they give you the opportunity to post ads and use the mailers to send solo ads to members. These sites offer free and paid membership levels and although the free memberships are really good here, there are always going to be distinct advantages to being a pro member (otherwise why would anyone pay up?) so do be prepared to check out which of the membership levels is best suited to your needs (if you are strapped for cash, you can always upgrade later if you think this is your best option..)

There are also several good credit based safelists out there that offer good sources of traffic and free or paid memberships - see my links module for a couple that I like.

Free traffic can be a great source of advertising for your site / business opportunity. It requires time cost though so don't be put off or disheartened if your traffic generation efforts take longer than you think they should. Persistence is definitely what pays off in this game.

Good luck and may you achieve your dreams!

Some useful freebies for Newbies!

As a good business booster, why not also check out the bonus pack available from my main site Ace Wealth Builder I have put together a range of useful info and software products that you can download for free. (You will need to input your email address to claim these freebies but I promise that your info is safe with me, you can unsubscribe at any time and I will only email you with other info that I have found useful myself and honestly believe may be of interest to you).

I do add to the freebies available when I find something that I think will be useful and email direct links to the new stuff to anybody who has already signed up for the downloads. I don't just shove any old thing up there and appreciate all feedback from anyone who has downloaded and is using the freebies I give away.

(Sorry didn't mean to make that so much of a sales pitch.. hopefully won't put you off reading the rest of my lens!)

Choosing to sell products as your main business.

Product development or Resell Rights?

This can be a real difficulty - logic tells you that if you can create your own unique product you are more likely to make oodles of dosh. However there are quite a few reasons for being wary of this option, the main ones being:

Lack of technical skill or innovative ideas.

Lack of funds to pay programmers to create your product for you.

A good way around this is to research resell rights membership sites and choose one or more which suit your needs. Below are a few that I believe offer good value for money although you need to do your own research to be sure that any site you choose will best meet your needs.

1. Instant Profits Center.

For their pretty cheap monthly fee, members here get:

A 500mb professional hosting account.
Unlimited Autoresponder Accounts.
New Products To Sell Each Month.
20 Private Label Articles Per Month.
Audio Interviews (all related to marketing your business).
Step-By-Step Video Tutorials that teach members how to do all the basic internet stuff. (editing/creating WebPages, accepting payments online, uploading files to the internet, etcetera)
And MORE.

In my view if you consider yourself an internet marketing newbie, this is a great place to educate yourself and get absolutely all the tools you'll ever need to run a successful online business.

Follow this link if you would like to check it out for yourself. Instant Profits Centre

2. Sure Fire Wealth

This excellent membership site offers varying levels of membership from free through to Gold. Each level has different advantages, for example if you want only to download free ebooks that you can give away as bonuses to help build your list then free membership will probably suit you fine.

Silver members gain access to many ebook & software downloads that have resell rights so you can resell the products and keep the profits. Resell rights are often limited but this will be fully explained within the site.

Gold members have access to more products which come with master resell or even private label rights, (which may perhaps be most useful for marketers who have a little more experience and are able to take advantage of the option to alter the products at source in order to brand them as their own).

This site offers lots of really useful info - follow this link to check it out for yourself:Sure Fire Wealth

Using Content Sites

How to make money if this is the main focus of your business?

The majority of content site builders still use Google adsense as their publisher of choice.Although it is becoming increasingly difficult to earn big bucks as Google change their algorithms and keep trying to strike a balance of fairness for their advertisers, (and make money themselves - they are a business after all..)

Yahoo is becoming an increasingly popular option as more publishers have their Google adsense accounts banned, or penalised in some other way for various reasons.

So, if you choose to make your fortune with content sites, there are several things that you need to consider carefully:

What is your business budget?
How will you choose your niche?
How will you define your keywords?
What is the optimum keyword percentage for your articles?
How many content sites should you create?
How will you drive traffic to your sites?
Do you need to generate other forms of income from these sites?

Don't ever let yourself be convinced that you can make money overnight with adsense.

Content sites take time and work although there are several programmes out there these days that will help to kickstart this process for you and get you on the right road with training via videos, ebooks and email courses.

Two of the best known (& helpful) adsense gurus are Joel Comm and Michael Cheney. If you want to make monmey from adsense, in particular I would definitely recommend joining Joels list and checking out his adsense products and also finding out more about Michaels adsense videos.

The Callen brothers (Brad and Matt) are also good guys to learn from here. There is a totally free report that you can download simply by right clicking the link below:
Adsense Arbitrage Report

which outlines how one of Brads clients is using Brads' Keyword elite to define keywords and create his content rich sites which he then creates a series of Google PPC ads to drive traffic to.

(Using this method he earns far more than he spends and so far Google have not had a problem with this because the content he provides is valid, useful and relevant to the visitors that he is driving to his sites. The Google ads that he publishes on his sites are hyper relevant, which in turn means that when those same visitors click through an adsense link from them, they are still constituting a targeted visit for that advertiser - everybody happy!)

ctd below!

Making Money with Content Sites ctd

phew! ran out of words there....

As the above seems to be a fast way to kick start your adsense earnings, this was why I asked you to consider carefully your budget for this business project. Remember there are no guarantees that what works for one person will work for you!

Having said that this guy does go into lots of detail about how he perfected his particular arbitrage method so it is well worth checking out the free report to see if you think you can follow this.

As for choosing your niche, there is debate over how you should do this, should you pick a topic that inspires you or should you simply follow the money?

Whichever you decide, you need to be sure to research your chosen niche carefully to narrow down the focus in order to make the most of your hard work. Pick your niche, research competitors keywords, and check how much competition is in that field.

Do your homework in terms of ensuring that the information you provide about your keyword topics is top notch. You also need to update it to keep it current and fresh. If you are lucky, or extra clever in your choice of niche / keyword topic, you will be able to use an rss feed to update your content which will lessen the amount of time you have to spend tweaking your info to keep it fresh.

In terms of defining your keywords there are several options, you can go for a software such as keyword elite or use a web based search such as nichebot. (You might even want to check out the bonus pack on the acewealthbuilder link below, there is a free keyword generator offered there).

In terms of keyword percentage, this depends on the type of traffic you are aiming for. Anything above 2 percent or so can be penalised by the search engines as keyword spamming if you are going for organic search engine traffic. For arbitrage 5-6 percent is optimum. Remember it is really important to use latent semantic keywords in your articles to increase the relevance and usefulness of your info in the eyes of your visitors and the search engines. For more info on this check out Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon, they made some really useful free videos on this topic.

Create a range of content sites, the biggest adsense earners own a whole bank of content sites and earn their income across the board at varying levels. Don't expect to make a living from only one.

Also consider adding alternative income streams such as Clickbank / Paydotcom and Amazon products that relate to your keyword articles.

Social Networking Sites

What can they do for you?

There's a lot of differing opinion about the benefits of social networking sites such as MySpace, AdlandPro and Direct Matches in terms of supporting your online business and driving traffic / encouraging sign ups to your chosen opportunity.

I think the one thing that everyone will agree on is that these sites need time if you are going to use them effectively (or even if they don't prove to be so effective for you, they tend to still take up a lot of your time..)

Having dabbled with MySpace and AdlandPro, I chose to bide my time before joining Direct Matches or any of the other social networking sites out there, I just didn't feel that I could spare any more time on this type of venture.

Then we (hubby and I) came across the Gib and got hooked in immediately! (a most unusual phenomena for me I can tell you, being a bit of a thinker and analyser..)

I truly believe that this is the next big phenomenon to hit the web, so much so that even though you could join only as a paid member at the time (prelaunch) we jumped right in there as a pro member, deciding that we would give it our best shot for the first 3 months and then do the thinking / analysing bit.

The Gib is more than simply a social networking site in that it offers you the opportunity to do the usual social networking thing, set up a profile, make connections, upload videos etc, and use this network to build relationships / advertise your current business, look for new opportunities.

However it also has a simply amazing revenue sharing stream and a great web shop offering all the products that any network marketer needs, hosting, domain names, web site development tools and you can make commissions on seling these.

Everything you need is under one roof, so why not Give the Gib a Go today?

The revenue sharing system has 4 income tiers depending upon the membership level you choose to join at and in the first week of launch, everybody earned income! This really is awesome. The community is growing and evolving even as I type this and I think in 6 months it will still be the place to be. I am so glad that we got in early.

Why Choose Affiliate Marketing?

There are a great many affiliate programmes. Each offer different percentages of their product fee and use different payment processors.

Things to consider if you choose to promote products as an affiliate:

In order to be successful if you are using email, ezine or article marketing to promote your affiliate links, you will still need to brand yourself as an expert, or at least a knowledgable party in the field for people to be comfortable enough to follow your recommendations.

List building is still important so you need to consider investing in an autoresponder and your marketing plan needs to involve a method for collecting peoples email addresses so that you can build a relationship with them and sell to them.

If you choose not to build your own web-site in order to promote your affiliate links, you may want to join a downline building prog. that enables you to advertise your own links from personalised pages within their system. A good example of this is Fiend Cat. You can join this programme free, yet you get ad trackers and a splash page generator so that you can even build your own splash page relating to your affiliate programmes to advertise on TEs etc.

If you choose to use free traffic generation methods to promote your links, you will need to spend a lot of time gaining credits for your ads.

Paid ads can work extremely well for affiliate marketing but you definitely need to invest time into getting the ad right with tracking and split testing, so that you maximise your conversion rates.

In choosing which products or affiliate programmes to join, you need to consider whether the payment processor used by the product seller is compatible with your country of residence - for example, I live in Cyprus so cannot have payments made into my Paypal account. This means that Paypal and Paydotcom are out for me although Clickbank has no such difficulties for me. (Yo Clickbank!) Individual product sellers are actually often willing to pay you via cheque if you have a problem of some kind in using their payment processor - don't be afaid to ask!

The Money is in the List!

hmm and where have we heard that before??

One of the most popular statements in online marketing is: The money is in the list!

Many marketers are making money out of helping newbies to learn about list building. There are products that come in video format, audio and ebooks galore.

So what is the secret? Is there a best way to achieve this? Is there a particular list building guru to follow?

Two of the most publicised products on the market recently have come from Joel Christopher and Michael Cheyney. Both have received positive reviews and many testimonials from satisifed clients but if you don't want to invest in any more products just at the moment, what are the most important considerations in list building?

In order to persuade someone to give you their email information, you need to brand yourself and present yourself in a way that will encourage trust.

You will need to have a good product of some kind to offer the person in return for them giving you their details and you will also need to convince them that you will not misuse their personal information. Your giveaway will need to be something that will have perceived value for your target market. It can be an info or a software product, or a combination. It could be membership to your newsletter or access to a membership site, but whatever it is, it needs to provide obvious value to persuade people to part with their email info.

A good autoresponder is a must have when you are planning to build a client list. This will save you time in managing your mails and contact details, and will also ensure that each person on your list has double opted (signed up and confirmed their email info). This will help to protect you from being accused of spamming and ensure that the person provides a valid email address when they sign up.

Once you have your giveaway and your autoresponder prepared, you will need to drive traffic to your site in order for people to see your offer. A good way to present your offer to people is via a lead capture page, where you provide an overview of your giveaway, an introduction to yourself and an optin form for the person to fill in their name and email address.

Your lead capture page will need to be eyecatching, fast loading and inviting in order to achieve the desired effect. You may need to split test several different types of lead capture pages before you find the one that will generate the most sign ups for you.

Next up we will look at some ways to generate traffic to your site

Writing great ads

I'm no expert here but can point to a few who are...

I'm not going to pretend that I'm not still learning this one myself!

However some of the really helpful tips that I have picked up so far along the way include:

Make a really eyecatching headline. (Not just to yourself - this has to be researched in terms of your target market and the sort of headlines that successful people are using to draw visitors).

Obviously you cannot copy exact headlines as that would be plagiarising but study the kind of words used and how they are put together, then use that general pattern as a basis for your own headline.

Make sure that you have researched your keywords and included them validly in your headline and the rest of your ad.

Make sure that the info / product or service you are advertising matches what people will find on your web-site when they click through your ad!

Your headline is to get attention and your sub heading or the body of your ad is to make the person who's attention you have grabbed want to click through for more info.

Think of the kind of ads in your niche that make you want to know more.

What format do they use? How do they grab your attention? What is it about those ads that makes you click?

Don't tell too much about your product or opportunity - most successful ads provide a teaser which makes a link to your target's need and how you can benefit them but doesn't give the game away totally. (That goes for sales copy as well as ads).

Many successful advertisers use headlines that ask a question relating to a well defined need and then use the body of the ad to define a benefit of the product / service being advertised.

You can get some more really useful (free) info on how to achieve this for yourself from the following CYN forum posts:

3 things we need to understand to write good copy
Do the opening lines of your sales copy suck?

There are also lots of copywriting products available out there but I think if you can gain some headway by picking up forum tips, you will also gain valuable info as to which products will benefit you most should you choose to buy..

Viral Marketing

Getting great traffic ...

Viral marketing takes quite a few forms these days. One of the best ones is to create a great product / ebook that contains links to your main products or useful affiliate links and then give it away for free (well, for a name and email address!)

Basically you get the name and email address of the person who downloads the ebook form you and you encourage them to give it away to their friends / list / from their site etc.

You can choose whether you allow them to rebrand the affiliate links so that they gain benefit from any sales from copies that they have passed on. Rebranding software is quite common these days and will deal with most affiliate links and name / site links.

The Callen brothers, Joel Comm, Gabriel Aguinaga and many, many other successful marketers use this type of marketing frequently and their products are always worth downloading and reading for yourself (despite the links). This is the real secret - your product can contain as many links as you like, if the info is high quality your subscribers won't mind!

Michael Cheney has a different slant on his viral marketing, he gives you a copy of the ebook for free and will give you testimonial links from his blogs but he asks you to give away the product via a link to his site so that he gets to collect your subscriber names as well. His products are usually worth the risk of doing it this way. Good value, to the point stuff with a novel twist that people generally appreciate.

Many marketers are now going with the OTO to try to gain upsells from free giveaways so you can get to earn money from giving your affiliate download link to subscribers.

This can work really well for you if you have a new product that you want to give away to the maximum number of people and are willing to share your profits with affiliates in order to achieve this.

Course you need to make a valid approach to the bigger name marketers in order to achieve this. Be confident about your product, they can only say no and many of them are happy to give you feedback about your product and some constructive criticism even if they do.

Ken Evoy has some really useful info about JVs and how to approach potential partners, also forums like Conquer Your Niche are a great source of info.

Good examples of this type of upsell with really useful info to download for free are outlined in the next para..

Free audio on how to make the most of video ads on the internet:
Net Info Secrets

Report on how to drive lots of Free Traffic to any site:
Traffic Secrets

Other twists on this kind of marketing include access to a free membership site, rather than giving away a product as such. This is a method used well by Raamakant S and Richard Legge in the examples below. Both sites are great even if you choose not to take advantage of the OTOs. OTO Goldmine especially offers value for money, (or even no cost), in my humble opinion..

How to Succeed in 30 Days

Other forms of viral traffic generation inc. signing up to systems which are designed to promote one or more of your own business opportunities from a generic site containing your links / ads. You then concentrate on driving traffic to that generic site and as people sign up to the system, they automatically are included in your downline.

These systems are designed to help you to generate traffic and build your downline at the same time and many of the major traffic exchanges also include this type of feature in their systems to encourage you to maintain your membership with them.

Straightforward examples of this type of system include:

Vital Viral &

Fiend cat Referrals which I have already mentioned as a downline builder. (This one is extra special because even as a free member you get space to advertise your own sites / links)!

If you are an affiliate who does not have their own web-site, these type of systems can be a really great way of initially creating a presence for yourself and advertising your affiliate links.

I really hope this is giving you some good insights into how to use your own marketing talents / tools most effectively, and also building your marketing arsenal for you.

Don't forget to leave me a comment in the guest book so that I can know if I'm on the right track and what else would be good to include..

SEO - white or black hat?

Why bother?

SEO is always going to be a pretty important part of internet marketing. (Or is it??)

There is a difference of opinion on this one, mainly dependant upon which type of marketing you are involved in. For example, if you have a large list of potential customers that you have built a relationship with and market to effectively, SEO may be of little importance to you. You will get sufficient traffic to your sites without having to worry about the headaches of choosing the right keywords and effective on & off page optimisation of your site..

Also if you run successful Adwords or other forms of pay per click advertising you may not need to be so concerned about effective SEO. Indeed there is a train of thought that effective SEO can decrease your earnings from contextual advertising as you cannot place enough keywords on your page to ensure that optimal ads are fed to your site gaining you the most click through's and highest ppc earnings. (See free download of Adsense Arbitrage Report above re: more discussion).

If you are going to concentrate on SEO never be tempted to use black hat techniques such as cloaking or keyword spamming as this is a sure way to get your site sand boxed by Google. This will leave you no alternative than to pay to bring traffic to your site, poss costing you dearly whilst you are perfecting your campaigns..

White hat SEO techniques inc:

On page optimisation such as ensuring that you have effective meta tags in place, approximately 2% keyword density and relevant, useful information about your keyword topic including the use of latent semantic keywords, (words which relate to your main keyword rather than simply constant repetition of the main keyword throughout your sentences).

Latent semantic keywords are a good way to keep your content relevant and interesting, provide keyword related info about your topic and yet avoid being penalised by the search engines for spamming. Your actual keyword can be used only 1-2% of the time yet your content remains keyword rich ++.

Off page optimisation needs to be given equal importance. Backlinks from other related, high ranking sites are a great way to get the search engines to recognise you. If you must give a reciprocal link, only link to related sites (not providing the same info but info that links to and enhances yours in some way). Submitting content rich articles to article directories with a link back to your site in the resource box is another great SEO tactic.

Network Marketing

Popular ++ although there are pitfalls.....

Just why do 95% of multi-level marketers fail?

There are a multitude of reasons for this. Many of them revolve around the way that people perceive an opportunity. Despite some of the major success stories, internet marketing and MLM are not get rich quick, earn loads of money for doing very little schemes.

It really does take dedication and hard work to make it online, in just the same ways as for an offline business.

This is not a 9-5 job even in the early days, never mind a 15 minute a day one. Maybe the truly successful have reached that stage by the time that you meet or read of them but never forget that even they will have needed to put in the blood and sweat required to reach that stage.

To be successful we all need a plan, or a systematic approach to achieving our targets / goals for our business growth. We also need a lot of patience and stubborness.

Pitfalls to network marketing in particular include:

Being reluctant to contact your upline. You are meant to be duplicating their success, this means that you need to be speaking with them and gaining support from them. Don't expect them to always chase you..

Thinking that you have to learn every aspect of the business before you can begin to build your own. Yes you need to present a professional image but you also need to take action in order to make this work. Use the products, create your own testimonials to help build your confidence in presenting them to others. Be confident about the opportunity you have to share but don't behave as though it is the only answer to your prospects problems.

It is easy to be squashed by rejection and to begin to feel that you were taken in by a sales pitch. Don't let that happen to you.

We are all free to make our own choices, don't take it personally if someone refuses to join you. Examine how you presented the opportunity to them and try to learn from the experience so that in future you can turn that no into a yes.

It is not easy in the beginning to learn to identify the need that your product / service is meeting and then provide an effective testimonial as to why / how your product / service will meet that need. The confidence to present this information effectively takes time to develop even when you are given this information.

This is because you need to be able to be yourself in order to be convincing. If you genuinely believe in the opportunity etc yourself, it is much easier to convince and motivate others.

Network Marketing

Survival! - - Making it work for you..

Again, I am no expert here but this is such a hot topic, I have been studying it a little.

The focus of my own interest is pretty much based on why people choose MLM, and is there a particular type of personality who is most likely to succeed in MLM? I don't have all the answers by any means, but so far I have come up with a few preliminary conclusions..

Many of the MLM opportunites available these days offer exceptional training and motivational opportunities to their members. A very good reason to consider them perhaps?

There are too many different kinds of MLM opportunities to go into them here but some of the most advertised at the moment include matrix and forced matrix businesses.

Remember that although it is great to have a mentor and team to work with you and support you, you are in business for yourself. They cannot (and should not be expected to) do all the work for you.

Not all recruiters are good leaders in the early stages also, so if you like the training and tools available from your chosen opportunity, but feel your upline is unable to provide you with the support and mentorship that you need to develop your potential, ask them to introduce you to their upline so that you can learn and develop your skills together.

Don't be afraid to ask for support because the way to make money in this business is to develop those leadership skills and your knowledge and confidence in using the tools provided for you. Don't waste time and money feeling resentful that your upline is not chasing after you continually. Interact with them and learn from them and / or their sponsors.

Survival in any business depends upon planning and strategy. Make sure that you can afford any joining / membership fees. Don't get carried away and spend more money than you can afford on products that you are not sure how to use yet. Learn to use and benefit from those that you do invest in before investing in more.

MLM success is based on duplication, clear and easy to follow methods that can be used by anybody who follows the plan. If you are not someone who likes to follow a plan and do exactly as the most successful people are doing in your chosen opportunity - think twice before joining.

That's not saying that you need to have no imagination to make this work! Indeed a really popular opportunity will have so many people competing for sign ups that you will need a slightly different look, but you do need to be willing to follow the plan..

Building relationships with the people in your downline or on your list

The money may be in the list but remember these are people not money trees..

In order to be able to sell to the people who are signed up to your list, you need to be able to make a relationship with them. The same relationship building skills are necessary in order to support and grow a downline if you are in MLM.

People respond to sincerity and honesty. Think of how you like to be treated and if you treat others that way, you should't go far wrong.

If you have a downline, you need to be accessible to them and to be able to convince them that your intentions and actions are honourable so that they will be comfortable in duplicating your actions in order to follow the system (and make money for themselves and for you).

When you are working on building your list you also need to be able to convince people who sign up to your giveaway that your intentions and actions are honourable so that they will feel comfortable to buy from you.

Don't always be trying to sell something to people that you contact. You need to be comfortable providing advice and support whilst you are relationship building. This is not always easy in an email. The written word can look dry or blunt all too easily. Always double check your emails before sending and try to read them as though you were receiving them in order to ensure that you are explaining yourself effectively and clearly. Ambiguity can cause many problems with written communications particularly.

When you do want your emails to sell something to the receivers, be clear about this. Outline the benefits to the person and provide a testimonial as to the usefulness of the product or service that you are endorsing. Preferably a testimonial as to how it helps you to run or grow your own business. If it is a product that you have created, be sure to tell the story of why you created it, ie. what gap in the market did you recognise and how will it benefit the person to buy your product?

If people want to contact you to ask questions about the service or product that you are endorsing, ensure that they have an easy way to reach you and always answer their queries promptly and as fully as possible. This will increase their respect for your knowledge and openness as well as their respect for you and your customer service skills.

This is a hugely important aspect of relationship building on any level. If you are giving more than you are expecting to receive, it will help to prevent you from being accused of spamming and people are more likely to want to stay in your downline....

Pay per Lead Affiliate Marketing

Remember the Death of Adsense report?

Basically pay per lead affiliate marketing works the same as regular affiliate marketing. Instead of being paid only for a sale however, you get paid for providing a qualified lead; ie. a potential customer fills in a request for more info.

If you are willing to invest in advertising, (or preferably if you already have a high traffic web-site, or a responsive list, related to the pay per lead products you are promoting, this can pay you a lot of supplemental income.

There are several companies out there nowadays I believe who manage the interface between pay per lead advertisers and affiliates. One such company is Modern Click offering a pretty easy to use system and lots of opportunities to choose from.

If you are looking for ways to generate multiple streams of income this may be something useful for you to check out?

Like all affiliate marketing you can choose how you promote this. As mentioned earlier, if you have a responsive list you can promote related products to them in the way you do with your other affiliate links. If you have a web-site that you drive traffic to you can choose to advertise relevant pay per lead products there and there is no reason why solo ads, ezine and article marketing wouldn't work either.

The arguments against this type of income generation are the same as for any type of affiliate marketing, ie:

Why choose to redirect your hard earned traffic if you are putting these ads on your web-site?

Why not put the effort and finances into developing and promoting a unique product of your own instead of someone elses?

How can you be seen as an expert or authority in a given area if you always choose to promote other peoples products?

The answer to those points is individual to you!

These days many marketers believe that it is necessary to have multiple income streams and there are hugely successful marketers who started out as affiliates before creating products of their own, eg Ewen Chia. He made his first big money as an affiliate and his products teach others how to do this.

The important things to remember about internet marketing are to:

Decide which income streams you want to develop and then master them one at a time.

Brand yourself gradually as you learn, and

Act upon your dreams.

All marketers are in agreement about one thing - Action is the key to being successful. This is a business that you need to learn by doing!

All proceeds from here go to Squidoo Charity!

I'm not recommending these things for my profit - just cos I think they may be of interest / use to you..

Vote for the products you think are most useful and add your own if you know of any that compliment this list! Have fun, grow and succeed!
