A Clutter-Free Life Is A Healthy Life
Most people who do live in clutter either don't realize how liberating it is to live without excessive material possessions or are unwilling to confront the underlying issues that make them accumulate all the clutter.
Decluttering your life begins with your living environment and this is the focus of this page. It starts with your home but it does not stop there at all. I have personally found that living in an uncluttered environment has brought about changes in all aspects of my life.
It's a process that takes time but with the right information and enough motivation it need not drag on endlessly. Every step I have taken in the process to declutter my life has initiated changes inside myself and now I wish to share my inspiration with you.
Top 7 Benefits of A Clutter-Free Environment

#7. I Save Money
I don't buy things in double because I'm actually aware of what I own and this goes for food as well. I spend less and I don't waste anything. Overall, I just buy less things because I'm happy to live in an environment that is not cluttered - and I want to keep it that way!
#6. I Appreciate What I Have More Than Before
To have less objects in my home makes the ones I do own more valuable. I am more grateful to have them and I feel satisfied if I use them often. If I display an object I love (such as art) and it has its own space without competing with a dozen other surrounding items, then it can really shine and fulfill its purpose.
#5. I Can Welcome Friends and Family Anytime
I am not ashamed to let anyone enter my home, even if they arrive unannounced. I don't have to worry about what they will think and how I will feel. I can concentrate on welcoming them and sharing my time and space with those I love.
#4. I Am More Efficient, I Lose Less Time
I am not spending any time looking for items that I cannot lose in a mess that does not exist! If I'm in a hurry, I know quickly where to get what I need. I also spend less time cleaning and organizing than before.
#3. I Have More Freedom
I feel free when I don't have so many objects to take care of but it's not just a feeling: I am literally able to turn around and move myself and my belongings to another place quickly and easily. If I want to store my things somewhere and take off, I can do this without any stress! And when I am home, I can spend more time on what I like to do instead of having to administer a pile a junk.
#2. I Am More Creative
My mind is clearer and I have a lot of outer and inner space to welcome new things in my life. I need space to create and have fresh ideas. My creative flow is tremendously enhanced by my uncluttered environment.
#1. I Have More Energy, My Stress Level Has Gone Down
For one thing, an uncluttered environment has resulted in an uncluttered inner self. I don't lose energy over the maintenance of my home which actually promotes relaxation and healthy emotions and thoughts. I Love to spend time in my home!
And for all the reasons listed here, I am dramatically less stressed than the times where I did live in cluttered spaces. I feel light, I feel free, I feel open and in control I my life!
Decluttering Tips To Get You Started

1. Make a Strategy
Whether you set aside a week-end for a decluttering blitz or choose to do a little everyday - it matters not. What does matter is that you have a plan. When surrounded by clutter, it can be difficult to know where to start. Establish goals and chart your progress - this will be motivating.
2. Involve the People You Live With
Do get the other members of your household involved, if there are any. Declare global war on clutter. Even if they are reluctant to participate, make it clear where you stand and once they begin to enjoy the benefits of a clutter free home, they might join in.
3. Do It Room by Room
There is nothing more motivating than having access to one clutter-free room as you go through your otherwise cluttered home. You will feel better in this room and it will serve as a preview of what's to come for the rest of your living space.
4. Don't Throw Away (all of) That Clutter!
Why not transform objects of clutter into gifts for friends who will actually use and appreciate them?
Better yet, give usable items to charity, there's no short amount of people in need. What is clutter to you could be a very useful item for somebody else.
If you have some valuable objects you want to get rid of, you can also make a yard or garage sale, sell them on Ebay or even Craiglist.
Do get rid of the rest! And a lot of it can be recycled.
The #1 Mistake When Decluttering...
Yeah right. How many objects you have kept for this reason that you have actually used enough times to justify their place in your home?
I know that for most of the things I have kept because I thought I might need it later I was wrong! And in the very few cases where I did give away something I could have used later, it was NOT a problem to get another one. Just borrow it if you're going to need it once a year.
... and while we're at it (I love to make lists) :
The #2 Mistake When Decluttering...
No! A clutter free-life is an ongoing process. There is no end to it. It's not something that has a beginning and an end (sounds like quantum physics, doesn't it?) - ok so it might have a beginning, but definitely no end.
If you are tempted to fill up the empty space again, it can mean one of two things: you are not done dealing with the internal issues related to clutter or you have gone too far in your decluttering fit and now have no chairs upon which to sit.
