Decorating your home with cork - a beautiful, unique, durable and environmentally friendly material.
Cork flooring looks great and feels great too!
The natural characteristics of cork make cork flooring the ideal choice in many rooms of the home. Cork is a natural insulator therefore it is warm underfoot, its comfortable to stand on for periods of time - great for a kitchen as prolonged standing is fatigue free, its anti-allergenic, and easy to maintain. Cork flooring is environmentally friendly as cork is a totally renewable resource.
Cork, as a natural product, warms and enriches any interior. Imagine the perfect floor...fashionable and beautiful to look at, yet easy to care for...quiet, soft and warm to the touch, yet durable enough to handle all kinds of traffic - pets, children, high heels.
Cork flooring is available in a variety of styles including:
Cork floating floors. These cork floors are installed using the tongue and groove method. These floors work well in any room of the house including basements as they can be installed over a vapor barrier.
Cork glue down floors. These cork floors are solid cork and are adhered (using water based contact cement) directly to the subfloor. These tiles can be arranged in any pattern.
Jelinek Cork mosaic flooring is produced from recycled wine corks that are cut into circular discs and adhered to a special paper to form mosaic patterns. They are installed using the glue-then-grout method. These floors have all the characteristics and benefits of regular cork floors but besides being suitable in most common rooms, they are also suitable for saunas, showers, pool surrounds, and other potentially wet areas.
Comfort Finish flooring. Jelinek Cork also offers the comfort finish which is a natural surface finish formulated from vegetable oil.
Cork walls and ceilings add warmth to your home.
Cork wall coverings are a natural alternative to traditional coverings. Cork wall and ceiling coverings range from acoustical panels, to cork rolls, to cork wallpaper. These wall coverings are available in a wide variety of unique styles, patterns and shades to compliment any decor or furniture style, adding character and warmth to any room. These cork coverings create outstanding room designs using cork to accent or contrast walls or ceilings.
Besides being decorative, cork wall coverings are also functional. The many natural characteristics of cork are not lost on walls. In fact, cork is often used on walls for its acoustical properties. On ceilings and walls, it works great to lessen the sound transmission. Cork is a natural insulator against both sound and temperature. Adding cork to an outside wall, helps insulate the room against outdoor temperatures.
What about cork on a wall in an office? Great idea as it adds a decorative element yet remains functional - perfect place for push pins!
